Alpha-terpineol grafted acetylated lentinan as an anti-bacterial adhesion agent
Carbohydrate Polymers, 2022Biomedical implants-associated bacterial infections have become a major threat to human health. Therefore, it is meaningful to develop new antibacterial strategies to solve this problem. In this study, we conjugated acetylated lentinan (AceLNT) with α-terpineol (AceLNT-g-α-ter), a highly effective natural antibacterial compound, to constitute a novel ...

Thymol nanospheres as an effective anti-bacterial agent
International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2012Among thymol, carvacrol, citronellal, eugenol and terpinen-4-ol, thymol showed the highest antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Thymol was then encapsulated into water dispersible submicron sized ethylcellulose/methylcellulose spheres, attaining the relatively high thymol loading level of 43.
