The use of FTIR microscopy for the evaluation of anti-bacterial agents activity
Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology B: Biology, 2009FTIR spectroscopy has been used by chemists as a powerful tool to characterize inorganic and organic compounds. In this study we examined the potential of FTIR microspectroscopy for early evaluation of the efficiency of anti-bacterial therapy. For this purpose, the effect of caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE) and ampicillin on the development of ...

Thymol nanospheres as an effective anti-bacterial agent
International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2012Among thymol, carvacrol, citronellal, eugenol and terpinen-4-ol, thymol showed the highest antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Thymol was then encapsulated into water dispersible submicron sized ethylcellulose/methylcellulose spheres, attaining the relatively high thymol loading level of 43.

Alpha-terpineol grafted acetylated lentinan as an anti-bacterial adhesion agent
Carbohydrate Polymers, 2022Biomedical implants-associated bacterial infections have become a major threat to human health. Therefore, it is meaningful to develop new antibacterial strategies to solve this problem. In this study, we conjugated acetylated lentinan (AceLNT) with α-terpineol (AceLNT-g-α-ter), a highly effective natural antibacterial compound, to constitute a novel ...

Tea: An anti-bacterial agent against drug resistant bacteria
Pakistan Journal of Medical and Health Sciences, 2021Antibiotics have played a crucial role in the treatment of bacterial infections. Past few decades are marked with advancement of multidrug resistant (MDR) pathogens, which have endangered antibiotic’s therapeutic efficacy. Scientific world is now struggling with the crisis of MDR pathogens.

Synthesis and bioactivity evaluation of rhodanine derivatives as potential anti-bacterial agents
European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2012Five series of (Z)-5-(4-(2-oxo-2-phenylethoxy)benzylidene)-2-thioxothiazolidin-4-one derivatives (I-V) were synthesized, characterized, and evaluated for their anti-bacterial activity. Most of the synthesized compounds showed potent inhibition against several Gram-positive bacteria (including multidrug-resistant clinical isolates) with MIC values in ...
