Poly-L-Lysine-Based αGal-Glycoconjugates for Treating Anti-αGal IgE-Mediated Diseases

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2022
Anti-αGal IgE antibodies mediate a spreading allergic condition known as αGal-syndrome (AGS). People exposed to hard tick bites are sensitized to αGal, producing elevated levels of anti-αGal IgE, which are responsible for AGS.

Discovery of an Adaptive Neuroimmune Response Driving Itch and Fast Tick Removal with Implications for Preventing Pathogen Transmission

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Doehl et al. discovered an adaptive neuroimmune mechanism that induces itch in tick‐exposed guinea pigs, enabling rapid tick removal. This itch‐induced tick removal (IITR) is mediated by an adaptive cellular immune response and is independent of IgG, IgE, or TRPV1.

Specificity of an Enzyme-1 Inked Immunosorbent Assay for Dog Ige Antibody to Japanese Cedar (Cryptomeria Japonica) Pollen

open access: yesAllergology International, 1997
We developed a fluorometric enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for allergen-specific IgE in dogs with the use of monoclonal anti-dog IgE; we assayed IgE antibody to Japanese cedar pollen in the sera of dogs with Japanese cedar pollinosis.

Bifidobacterium Breve Yang08 Alleviates Atopic Dermatitis By Enriching Akkermansia Muciniphila and Inhibiting Neutrophil Extracellular Traps Formation In Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel Bifidobacterium breve strain, Yang08, is isolated to counter its depletion in atopic dermatitis. In mice, live Yang08 requires an intact gut microbiota to exert protection, specifically enriching Akkermansia muciniphila and potently inhibiting pathogenic neutrophil activation and NETosis in the skin.

Endogenous Ceramide 24:1 Constrains Th17‐Driven Neutrophilic Inflammation by Antagonizing EP2 Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cer24:1 levels are reduced in neutrophilic asthma and inversely correlate with disease severity and airway neutrophilia. Restoring Cer24:1 suppresses pathogenic Th17 differentiation by engaging EP2 on CD4+ T cells, thereby dampening the JAK2–STAT3–RORγt axis and reducing IL‐17 production.

IgE autoantibodies to nuclear antigens in patients with different connective tissue diseases: re-evaluation and novel findings

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
IntroductionConnective tissue diseases (CTD) are characterised by the overproduction of multiple autoantibodies, especially antinuclear antibodies (ANA) of the IgG type. Meanwhile, also IgE autoantibodies have been described.

Serum IgE anti-dsDNA autoantibodies in patients with proliferative lupus nephritis are associated with tubulointerstitial inflammation

open access: yesRenal Failure, 2023
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease characterized by the overproduction of multiple autoantibodies. Lupus nephritis (LN), the most common cause of morbidity and mortality, requires early detection.

Integrating Human Intestinal Organoids into FDA'S New Approach Methodologies for Drug Discovery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Illustration summarizes how human intestinal organoids (HIOs) are becoming transformative in preclinical research. Preclinical drug discovery pipelines often rely on animal models for ADMET studies, even though interspecies ADME gaps, poor external validity, and high attrition rates are common.

One‐Step Glycoengineering of NK Cells With High‐Affinity Siglec Ligands for Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops an engineered NmCSS enzyme with improved activity for bulky group modified sialic acids, enabling efficient synthesis of structurally diverse sialoside analogs in a single step. Glycan microarray screening identified Siglec high‐affinity ligands, which were incorporated onto natural killer (NK) cells via a one‐pot enzymatic system ...

Local Specific IgE Levels Can Predict and Monitor the Therapeutic Response to Subcutaneous Immunotherapy With House Dust Mite

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Identifying predictive and monitoring biomarkers for allergen immunotherapy response is crucial for enhancing clinical efficacy. This study aims to investigate the systemic and local levels of immunoglobulins and identify potential biomarkers in house dust mite (HDM) allergic rhinitis (AR) patients who are undergoing subcutaneous ...
