MECHANISM OF ANTI-INFLAMMATORY ACTION OF GLUCOCORTICOSTEROIDS

The Lancet, 1977
Glucocorticosteroids react with blood monocytes and tissue macrophages to produce a peptide factor which stimulates the random migration of polymorphs in vitro in the capillary-tube migration system. An identical effect on polymorph migration is produced by colchicine and vinblastine, drugs which inhibit the assembly of the cytoplasmic microtubules on ...

Anti‐inflammatory actions of phosphatidylinositol

European Journal of Immunology, 2011
AbstractChronic inflammatory T‐cell‐mediated diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are often treated with immunosuppressants including corticosteroids. In addition to the intended T‐cell suppression, these farmacons give rise to many side effects. Recently, immunosuppressive phospholipids have been proposed as less‐toxic alternatives.

Anti-inflammatory Actions of Quinapril

Cardiovascular Drugs and Therapy, 2007
The role of angiotensin II (Ang-II) in inflammation and the mechanisms through which it exerts this role are explored. Signaling through angiotensin stimulation of inflammatory cells often amplifies inflammation. Formation of Ang-II from tissue angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) has been shown to be of greater importance in the development and ...

Anti-Inflammatory Action of Methimazole

Pharmacology, 1997
The anti-inflammatory activity of 1-methylimidazole-2-thiol (methimazole), the most widely used antithyroid drug, was investigated. Methimazole had a marked inhibitory action on prostaglandin H synthase (IC50 = 10 mumol/l), inhibiting the peroxidase (IC50 = 330 mumol/l), although the cyclo-oxygenase was slightly activated.

Ocular Anti-Inflammatory Actions of Matrine

Journal of Ocular Pharmacology and Therapeutics, 1987
Matrine is an alkaloid isolated from the root of Sophora subprostrata (Leguminosae) which has been used as a Chinese medicine for the treatment of inflammation. Instillation of 50 microliter of 1% matrine showed significant inhibition of ocular inflammation induced by lens proteins. Unlike corticosteroids, matrine did not facilitate the IOP recovery in

Anti-Inflammatory Actions of Intravenous Immunoglobulin

Annual Review of Immunology, 2008
The remarkable success story of the therapeutic application of pooled immunoglobulin G (IgG) preparations from thousands of donors, the so-called intravenous IgG (IVIG) therapy, to patients with a variety of hematological and immunological disorders began more than half a century ago.

Anti-inflammatory action of sulfated polysaccharides

Biochemical Pharmacology, 1969
Abstract A number of sulfated polymers: pentosan polysulfate, polyvinyl sulfate, polyethylene sulfonate, cellulose sulfate, dextran sulfate, sulfate amylopectin, in the same way as carragenin, degraded carragenin and dextran, produce edema in the rat's paw by local injection, to release kinins from fresh guinea pig and rat's plasma (in vitro) and to ...

Anti-inflammatory Action of Green Tea

Anti-Inflammatory & Anti-Allergy Agents in Medicinal Chemistry, 2016
Green tea has been shown to have beneficial effects against a variety of diseases such as cancer, obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and neurodegenerative diseases. Through cellular, animal, and human experiments, green tea and its major component, epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) have been demonstrated to have anti-inflammatory effects.

Anti-inflammatory actions of boswellic acids

Phytomedicine, 1996
Boswellic acids (BA) demonstrated dose-related anti-inflammatory activity (AIA) in acute tests of carrageenan-, histamine- and dextran-induced edema in rats and mice. It elicited inhibitory action on vascular permeability in mice induced by acetic acid.
