A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Prophylactic Anticoagulant Treatment Might Have an Anti-inflammatory Effect and Reduce Mortality Rates in Hospitalized COVID-19 Patients?

open access: yesOman Medical Journal, 2022
Objectives: COVID-19 associated coagulopathy and prophylactic anticoagulant therapy (PAT) are ongoing topics globally. Using PAT for anti-inflammatory effect may prevent thromboembolic events (TEEs).

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Phytochemicals as Anti-Inflammatory Agents in Animal Models of Prevalent Inflammatory Diseases

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
Phytochemicals are known to have anti-inflammatory effects in vitro and in vivo, such as in inflammatory disease model systems. Inflammation is an essential immune response to exogenous stimuli such as infection and injury.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Synthesis of Certain Pyrimidine Derivatives as Antimicrobial Agents and Anti-Inflammatory Agents

open access: yesMolecules, 2010
A variety of novel bicyclic and tricyclic pyrimidine derivatives was obtained via reaction of 6-amino-2-thioxo-1H-pyrimidine-4-one (1) with a different reagents. The antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory activities of some of the synthesized compounds were
