The neutrophil adherence assay as a method for detecting unique anti-inflammatory agents

Agents and Actions, 1978
Neutrophil adhesiveness is an important component of the pathophysiology of the inflammatory process. Modulation of this function could result in a reduction in the degree of inflammation and connective tissue damage. A simple technique using filtration of whole blood through nylon fiber columns has been developed to study the effect of anti ...

Antioxidant and Anti-inflammatory Assays Confirm Bioactive Compounds in Ajwa Date Fruit

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2013
Ajwa, a variety of date palm Phoenix dactylifera L., produces the most expensive date fruits. Percentages of seed, moisture, fructose, glucose, soluble protein, and fiber in Ajwa dates were 13.24, 6.21, 39.06, 26.35, 1.33, and 11.01, respectively. The ethyl acetate, methanolic, and water extracts of Ajwa dates, active at 250 μg/mL in the MTT assay ...

Prostaglandin release from macrophages: An assay system for anti-inflammatory drugs in vitro

Agents and Actions, 1977
It is the intention of this communication to present a simple and reliable in vitro system for the evaluation of anti-inflammatory drugs. The system described appears to combine the advantages of two established procedures, i.e. measurement of the inhibition of prostaglandin (PG) synthesis in vitro using microsomal enzyme preparations and the ...

Interference by Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs in EMIT® and TDx® Assays for Drugs of Abuse

Journal of Analytical Toxicology, 1995
Fourteen nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs were evaluated for interference in EMIT and TDx assays for drugs of abuse. Only tolmetin demonstrated significant interferences in the EMIT assay. Urine samples that contained high concentrations of tolmetin (1800 mg/L) had characteristic high molar absorptivity at the wavelength used in EMIT assays (340 nm)

High-Throughput Yeast-Based Reporter Assay to Identify Compounds with Anti-inflammatory Potential

2016
The association between altered proteostasis and inflammatory responses has been increasingly recognized, therefore the identification and characterization of novel compounds with anti-inflammatory potential will certainly have a great impact in the therapeutics of protein-misfolding diseases such as degenerative disorders.

GRANULOMA POUCH ANTI-INFLAMMATORY ASSAY: SOME REMARKS ON CALCULATION AND STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF RESULTS

Acta Endocrinologica, 1961
ABSTRACT A statistical analysis is made of the granuloma pouch assay in the rat as a quantitative method for estimating the anti-inflammatory activity of different materials. The problems of calculating the best unbiased mean and estimates of standard error and degrees of freedom on replicate experiments are studied.

A rapid and highly predictive in vitro assay for non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents.

International journal of tissue reactions, 1988
The inhibition of the production of malonyldialdehyde (MDA) in guinea-pig lung homogenates, incubated in the presence of 50 microM arachidonic acid and 1.4 mM adrenaline, has been exploited as a simple and reliable assay to test in vitro non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents (NSAIA).
