Anti‐neutrophil cytoplasm antibodies (ANCA)

Australian and New Zealand Journal of Medicine, 1990
AbstractCirculating antibodies directed against cytoplasmic constituents of granulocytes and monocytes (anti‐neutrophil cytoplasm antibodies, ANCA) are found in about 80% of active cases of Wegener's granulomatosis and microscopic polyarteritis. Antibodies are detected by indirect immunofluorescence on normal peripheral blood leucocytes, or by ELISA or

Anti-neutrophil cytoplasm antibody associated vasculitis

The International Journal of Biochemistry & Cell Biology, 2003
Anti-neutrophil cytoplasm antibody associated vasculitides are autoimmune diseases that require treatment with powerful immunosuppressants in order to avert life threatening complications, principally renal failure and lung haemorrhage. Their pathogenesis remains unclear but the circulating autoantibodies are almost certainly instrumental in mediating ...

Anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies in uveitis

Current Eye Research, 1990
The antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody test has become available over the past 4 or 5 years. It is positive in a limited number of conditions whose characteristic feature is the presence of a small vessel vasculitis. These include Wegener's granulomatosis and microscopic polyarteritis. The test was applied to 63 patients with uveitis of various types.

Antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies

The Lancet, 2006
Much like other autoantibodies (eg, anti-double stranded DNA in systemic lupus erythematosus or antiglomerular basement membrane antibodies in Goodpasture's syndrome), antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA) have provided doctors with a useful serological test to assist in diagnosis of small-vessel vasculitides, including Wegener's granulomatosis,

Myelodysplasia, Vasculitis and Anti-Neutrophil Cytoplasm Antibodies

Leukemia & Lymphoma, 1993
A cutaneous or systemic vasculitis occurs in myelodysplasia as well as in myeloproliferative and lymphoproliferative disorders. The most common lesion is a leucocytoclastic vasculitis, with neurological or joint involvement occurring less often. The vasculitis may appear contemporaneously with or precede the clinical onset of the blood dyscrasia ...
