Neuronal anti-nuclear antibody in paraneoplastic sensory neuronopathy

Journal of the Neurological Sciences, 1988
Sera from 3 patients with a paraneoplastic sensory neuronopathy and small cell carcinoma of the lung were found to contain an IgG directed against neuronal nuclei and the nuclei of cells in adrenal medulla. Plasma from one of these patients was injected into laboratory mice for 100 days but passive transfer of the syndrome could not be effected. Plasma

Anti‐nuclear antibody testing in children: How much is really necessary?

Pediatrics International, 2021
Anti‐nuclear antibody (ANA) testing is most commonly ordered by general pediatricians to evaluate children with musculoskeletal system complaints. Given the limited utility of the test, we aimed to estimate the effectiveness of ordering ANA testing in ...

Circulating anti-nuclear antibodies in uveitis.

La Clinica terapeutica, 2013
Uveitis represents the inflammatory process of uvea being caused by an autoimmune mechanism. Similarly, systemic connective tissue diseases (CTDs) present as well an autoimmune pathogenesis and numerous are the reports of a correlated association of the two different conditions, according to their serological characteristics.

Anti-nuclear RNP antibodies in two sisters

British Journal of Dermatology, 1985
Two sisters with clinical elements of mixed connective tissue disease were found to have anti-nuclear RNP (nRNP) antibodies. These antibodies were not found in the six other family members examined. The sisters had inherited an identical HLA haplotype A2-Bw61-Cw3-DR1 from their mother who had had Raynaud's phenomenon for several years.

Frequency of anti‐nuclear antibodies in multiple sclerosis

Neurology, 1995
We found anti-nuclear antibodies (ANA) in 26.7% of 150 relapsing-remitting and in 30.4% of 23 chronic progressive definite multiple sclerosis (MS) patients by retrospective chart review. These patients did not have systemic lupus erythematosus. Since ANA are not pathogenically relevant in MS, they are false-positive, and likely reflect systemic immune ...

Anti-Nuclear Antibodies in Sydenham’s Chorea

1997
The goal of the present study was to determine if a relationship exists between the presence of ANA and ARF with or without Sydenham's chorea. We also addressed whether there is a characteristic ANA specificity present and if ANA-positivity correlates with duration of disease.

Analysis and significance of anti-nuclear antibodies in dogs

Research in Veterinary Science, 1997
Assays for detecting and measuring antinuclear antibodies (ANA) in dogs were compared. They included the indirect immunofluorescence test, using rat liver as substrate, and ELISAs for three nuclear antigens: double-stranded DNA, single-stranded DNA, and histone. There was no correlation between the ANA titre and antibodies to the three nuclear antigens.
