In this study, a purified algal polysaccharide (P1) was isolated from Sargassum fusiforme and its structural characteristics and anti-photoaging activity were studied. Results showed that P1 had a molecular weight of 289 kDa and was mainly composed of mannuronic acid, guluronic acid and fucose with molar ratio of 7.67:2.35:1.00. The backbone of P1 was →

Antioxidant and anti-photoaging effects of a fucoidan isolated from Turbinaria ornata
International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2023Fucoidans isolated from brown seaweeds are potential ingredients in the cosmetic industry. In our preosvious study, a fucoidan was isolated from the brown seaweed Turbinaria ornata (TO-F10) and the anti-inflammatory effect of TO-F10 was evaluated. In order to further explore the potential of TO-F10 in cosmetics, in the present study, antioxidant and ...

Anti-photoaging effects of chitosan oligosaccharide in ultraviolet-irradiated hairless mouse skin
Skin photoaging (SP) is a premature skin-aging damage after repeated exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation, mainly characterized by oxidative stress and inflammatory disequilibrium, which makes skin show the typical symptoms of photoaging such as coarse wrinkling, dryness, irregular pigmentation and laxity.

A novel anti-photoaging ingredient with the effect of iron sequestering
Journal of Dermatological Science Supplement, 2005Summary Background The reactive oxygen species generated by ultraviolet rays causes various types of cutaneous damage, such as lipid peroxidation and denaturation of the extra-cellular matrix. The accumulation of such damage contributes to skin aging, especially the formation of wrinkles.

Anti-photoaging activity of triterpenoids isolated from Centella asiatica
PhytochemistryCentella asiatica (L.) Urban is a medical plant rich in triterpenoids, frequently used in Asia to treat skin conditions such as acne. To search for anti-photoaging agents, 16 known triterpenoids and five undescribed triterpenoids, including three ursane, one oleanane and one nor-ursane were isolated from the whole herb of C. asiatica.
