Investigation of the Anti-Snake Venom Activity ofSchumanniophyton magnificum
Planta Medica, 1989Polar fractions of the methanolic extracts of the stem- and root-barks of SCHUMANNIOPHYTON MAGNIFICUM (Rubiaceae) reduced the effects of cobra venom cardiotoxin in the chick biventer cervicis nerve-muscle preparation IN VITRO. No activity was observed against a curaremimetic neurotoxin from cobra venom. Further fractionation of the extracts showed that

Acute pulmonary edema as a complication of Anti-snake Venom therapy
The Indian Journal of Pediatrics, 2001Polyvalent Anti-snake Venom (ASV) is a life-saving antivenin for severe envenomation due to snake bite in India. ASV infusion is occasionally associated with severe allergic reactions, i.e. anaphylaxis and death. We report a rare instance of non-cardiogenic pulmonary edema due to ASV infusion in an eleven years old boy.

Anti‐snake venom properties of Schizolobium parahyba (Caesalpinoideae) aqueous leaves extract
Phytotherapy Research, 2008AbstractMany medicinal plants have been recommended for the treatment of snakebites. The aqueous extracts prepared from the leaves of Schizolobium parahyba (a plant found in Mata Atlantica in Southeastern Brazil) were assayed for their ability to inhibit some enzymatic and biological activities induced by Bothrops pauloensis and Crotalus durissus ...

Antibacterial Activity of Polyvalent Anti-snake venom
Research Journal of Pharmacy and TechnologySnake bite is a major occupational hazard globally. Immediate administration of antivenom is the standard regime for treatment. Snake bite wound can get deposited with the pathogenic microflora present in the buccal cavity of the snake. Hence, the present research study was performed to investigate anti-snake venom (ASV) efficacy against various ...

Isolation of IgGT from hyperimmune horse anti-snake venom serum: Its protective ability
Toxicon, 1991Hyperimmune horse anti-bothropic serum, used in serum therapy, was analyzed for its IgGT content and protective ability. IgGT was isolated through a combination of salt-mediated hydrophobic chromatography and protein A affinity chromatography. The chromatographic fractions obtained were analyzed with regard to their isotype content and protective ...
