Anti-vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Outpatient Treatment Patterns in Patients with Exudative Age-related Macular Degeneration from a Japanese Hospital Claims Database

open access: yesJournal of Health Economics and Outcomes Research, 2014
# Purpose To identify outpatient treatment patterns of patients with exudative age-related macular degeneration (AMD) who received approved anti–vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapy, using real-world data from hospitals in Japan.

VEGF family members : modulators of tumor angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Members of the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) family and their receptors (VEGFR) play an essential role in the development and maintenance of the blood and lymphatic vasculature.

TPI1 Loss Triggers a Metabolite‐Driven Mitochondrial Redox Vulnerability via the SARM1–cADPR–Ca2+ Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Metabolite‐driven redox stress governs cancer cell senescence. TPI1 deficiency elevates DHAP, initiating SARM1‐dependent cADPR‐Ca2+ release. Mitochondrial ROS surge subsequently induces DNA damage and senescence, offering a conserved therapeutic target in multiple cancers.

Anti-VEGF drugs: evidence for effectiveness

open access: yes, 2014
Anti-vascular endothelial growth factors (anti-VEGF) are targeted biological drugs (e.g. monoclonal antibodies) that prevent the growth of new vessels by inhibiting VEGF.

CA9‐Targeted PET Imaging for Noninvasive Discrimination of Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma and Associated Tumor Biological Features

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CA9‐targeted PET imaging could be a noninvasive approach to characterize clear cell renal cell carcinoma and associated tumor biology. PET uptake correlates with tumor CA9 expression and is linked to angiogenic activity, immune remodeling, and metabolic reprogramming.

Harmonizing Rigidity and Flexibility: Embedding COF Quantum Dots Into Extracellular Matrix Gel as Carbon Monoxide Depot for Acoustically Triggered Time‐Programmable Anti‐Infective Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A rigid‑flexible integrated CO depot is engineered by embedding rigid COFQDs into a flexible ECM gel network. The rigid framework enables high‑capacity CO storage and sonodynamic bacterial killing, while the flexible ECM gel controls sustained CO release, collectively eradicating multidrug‑resistant infection and promoting scarless healing.

Treatment of choroidal neovascularisation in highly myopic eyes

open access: yesZdravniški Vestnik, 2012
Background: The aim of this study was to examine the effectiveness (visual outcome) of photodynamic therapy with verteporfin (PDT) and intravitreal anti-VEGF therapy for the treatment of choroidal neovascularisation secondary to pathologic myopia ...

A Blood‐Derived Factor Rescues ALS: Platelet Factor 4 Activates OPTN‐Dependent Autophagy to Clear SOD1 Aggregates Independently of PINK1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Systemic platelet factor 4 (PF4) is significantly depleted in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Peripheral PF4 replenishment restores central proteostasis by driving OPTN‐dependent, PINK1‐independent selective autophagy in motor neurons. This intervention effectively clears toxic SOD1 aggregates, blunts glial activation, and preserves neuromuscular ...
