Antibacterial activity of antileukoprotease [PDF]

open access: yesInfection and Immunity, 1996
Antileukoprotease (ALP), or secretory leukocyte proteinase inhibitor, is an endogenous inhibitor of serine proteinases that is present in various external secretions. ALP, one of the major inhibitors of serine proteinases present in the human lung, is a potent reversible inhibitor of elastase and, to a lesser extent, of cathepsin G.

Antibacterial Activity of Ebselen

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2023
Ebselen is a low-molecular-weight organoselenium compound that has been broadly studied for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and cytoprotective properties. These advantageous properties were initially associated with mimicking the activity of selenoprotein glutathione peroxidase, but the biomedical impact of this compound appear to be far more ...

Antibacterial Activity of Chitooligosaccharides

open access: yesZeitschrift für Naturforschung C, 2008
The aim of this study was to investigate the antibacterial activity of chitooligosaccharide, prepared by partial acid hydrolysis of chitosan, and of an aminoglycosylated derivative, prepared by reductive alkylation of the chitooligosaccharide, against E. coli and S. aureus.

Antibacterial Activity of Terpenes and Terpenoids Present in Essential Oils

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
Background: The antimicrobial activity of essential oils has been reported in hundreds of studies, however, the great majority of these studies attribute the activity to the most prevalent compounds without analyzing them independently.

Antibacterial Activity of Tropolone [PDF]

open access: yesAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, 1975
Tropolone was shown to be bacteriostatic and bactericidal for a wide range of bacterial species. This antibacterial activity was quantitated using standard methods. Tropolone treatment of whole cells resulted in cell lysis characterized by bleb formation and subsequent loss of cell contents after rupture of the bleb.
