The Susceptibility of Bacteroides fragilis to 24 Antibiotics

Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1972
Of the anaerobic, nonsporulating, gram-negative bacilli, those of the genus Bacteroides are most frequently associated with serious infections in man. Forty clinical isolates of the species Bacteroides fragilis were tested quantitatively against 24 antibiotics by an agar-dilution method under anaerobic conditions.

Antibiotic Susceptibility Testing

1989
T’ang and co-workers (1957), who had adapted Cox’s method (1938) for the growth of rickettsiae in embryonated hen’s eggs in order to isolate chlamydiae, also studied the susceptibility of C. trachomatis to certain antibiotics. They found chlamydiae to be resistant to aminoglycosides and susceptible to tetracyclines.

Antibiotic Susceptibility and Resistance

2014
The realization that peptic ulcer disease was caused by an infectious agent has led to the still ongoing search for the most appropriate therapy. Many therapies have been tried, with the conclusion that multiple drug combinations are at present essential to the achievement of acceptable outcomes; cure of infection in >80% of patients is based on ...
