Establishment of a Dual-Antigen Indirect ELISA Based on p30 and pB602L to Detect Antibodies against African Swine Fever Virus

open access: yesViruses, 2023
African swine fever (ASF) is an acute, virulent, and highly fatal infectious disease caused by the African swine fever virus (ASFV). There is no effective vaccine or diagnostic method to prevent and control this disease currently, which highlights the ...

Development and Evaluation of a Monoclonal Antibody-Based Blocking Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay for the Detection of Antibodies against Novel Duck Reovirus in Waterfowl Species

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum, 2022
The novel duck reovirus (NDRV) is an emerging pathogen that causes disease in various waterfowl species. Since the outbreak, it has caused huge economic losses to the duck industry in China.

I329L protein-based indirect ELISA for detecting antibodies specific to African swine fever virus

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, 2023
African swine fever (ASF) is a disease that causes severe economic losses to the global porcine industry. As no vaccine or drug has been discovered for the prevention and control of ASF virus (ASFV), accurate diagnosis and timely eradication of infected ...

A Customized Novel Blocking ELISA for Detection of Bat-Origin Swine Acute Diarrhea Syndrome Coronavirus Infection

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum, 2023
Swine acute diarrhea syndrome coronavirus (SADS-CoV) is a newly discovered emerging alphacoronavirus. SADS-CoV shares over 90% genome sequence identity with bat alphacoronavirus HKU2.

Identification of a novel B-cell epitope of the African swine fever virus p34 protein and development of an indirect ELISA for the detection of serum antibodies

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
African swine fever (ASF) is a viral disease caused by the African swine fever virus that can be highly transmitted and lethal in domestic pigs. In the absence of a vaccine, effective diagnosis is critical for minimizing the virus’s spread.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Review of Infections With Bovine Herpesvirus 1 in Slovenia

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2021
In the 1950s, infectious bovine rhinotracheitis/infectious pustular vulvovaginitis (IBR/IPV) disease was clinically detected and documented in cattle for the first time in Slovenia.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.
