Host Genotype and Antibody Formation

1972
In a group of randomly selected individuals of a given species the same dose of antigen will provoke immune responses differing in quantity as well as in quality. This variation of the immune response has two possible reasons: it reflects differences in 1) the individual’s pre- or postnatal history and experience with antigens, encountered in his ...

Antibody Formation in Experimental Amyloidosis

International Archives of Allergy and Immunology, 1979
In endotoxin-induced amyloidosis of mice it was found that all mouse strains formed antibodies specific for the type of endotoxin injected. In casein-induced amyloidosis, the animals form antibodies to certain components of the casein and most likely to whatever contaminating endotoxin is present. The antibodies formed seemed to be primarily of the IgG

Anticholesterol Antibodies and Plaque Formation

Nutrition Reviews, 2009
Immunization of rabbits with a protein-free formulation consisting of liposomes containing 71% cholesterol and lipid A induced cholesterol antibodies in rabbits fed a diet containing 0.5% and 1.0% cholesterol. Elevation in plasma cholesterol levels was significantly less in immunized than in nonimmunized rabbits.

Alternative antibody formats.

Current opinion in molecular therapeutics, 2010
During the past two decades, numerous recombinant antibody formats have been designed and produced by genetic engineering, extending and improving the activities of naturally occurring antibodies. However, while whole IgG molecules, antibody fragments and chemically modified derivatives thereof are being used clinically, alternative antibody formats ...

Antibody Formation in Tissue Culture

Nature, 1959
WHILE the production of antibodies by explanted tissues or cells from immunized animals is readily demonstrable, most attempts to initiate antibody formation in vitro have met with failure. Only recently has the original claim for success1 been substantiated by the observations of Stevens and McKenna2, who found that normal rabbit spleen produced ...

Antibody Formation in Transfusion Therapy

Journal of Infusion Nursing, 2018
The production of antibodies following blood transfusions is a complex process that involves many recipient and donor factors. Inflammation in the recipient is one important factor. As knowledge of the immune system, of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and nitric oxide pathways, and of hemostasis grows, more specific therapies will allow precise manipulation of
