AM-251, A Cannabinoid Antagonist, Modifies the Dynamics of Sleep–Wake Cycles in Rats

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2019
Study Objectives: (a) To describe the microarchitecture of wakefulness and sleep following administrations of 5- and 10-mg/kg AM-251 in rats. (b) To develop a new statistical method to follow bout-to-bout dynamics.Method: Wistar rats (n = 6) had been ...

A Bayesian dose-response meta-analysis model: simulation study and application [PDF]

open access: yesVol 30, Issue 5, 2021, 2020
Dose-response models express the effect of different dose or exposure levels on a specific outcome. In meta-analysis, where aggregated-level data is available, dose-response evidence is synthesized using either one-stage or two-stage models in a frequentist setting. We propose a hierarchical dose-response model implemented in a Bayesian framework.

Designing AI for Trust and Collaboration in Time-Constrained Medical Decisions: A Sociotechnical Lens [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Major depressive disorder is a debilitating disease affecting 264 million people worldwide. While many antidepressant medications are available, few clinical guidelines support choosing among them. Decision support tools (DSTs) embodying machine learning models may help improve the treatment selection process, but often fail in clinical practice due to

Antidepressant use and spatial social capital [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Social capital may help individuals maintain their mental health. Most empirical work based on small-scale surveys finds that bonding social capital and cohesive social networks are critical for mental well-being, while bridging social capital and diverse networks are considered less important.
