Antifungal activity of magnolol and honokiol

Archives of Pharmacal Research, 2000
Two neolignan compounds, magnolol (5,5'-diallyl-2,2'-dihydroxybiphenyl, 1) and honokiol (5,5'-diallyl-2,4'-dihydroxybiphenyl, 2), were isolated from the stem bark of Magnolia obovata and evaluated for antifungal activity against various human pathogenic fungi. Compound 1 and 2 showed significant inhibitory activities against Trichophyton mentagrophytes,

Antifungal activity of Ajuga remota

Fitoterapia, 2001
Successive petroleum ether, dichloromethane and methanol extracts of Ajuga remota aerial parts were tested in vitro for their antifungal activity. The petroleum ether fraction was found to be the most effective against the tested pathogens.

Conjugated Polymers for Light‐Activated Antifungal Activity

Small, 2012
A cationic polythiophene-porphyrin (PTP) dyad is shown to exhibit efficient light-activated antifungal activity. Higher singlet oxygen (¹O₂) generation efficiency can be attained from PTP upon photoexcitation due to the light-harvesting properties of the polymer backbone and efficient energy transfer from the polythiophene to the porphyrin units.

Hydroxytyrosol Expresses Antifungal Activity In Vitro

Current Drug Targets, 2013
Hydroxytyrosol (HT) is a potent antioxidant found in olive oil and leaves. Using several in vitro approaches, we tested antifungal activity of HT. HT showed broad spectrum of antifungal activity against medically important yeasts and dermatophyte strains with MIC values ranging between 97.6 µgml⁻¹ and 6.25 mgml⁻¹.

Antifungal activity of Wickerhamomyces silvicola

Microbiology, 2015
Wickerhamomyces silvicola strain Y-178 was shown to secrete a mycocin with a fungicidal effect. It exhibits the highest activity at pH 4.5 and elevated ambient osmotic pressure. Over 140 species belonging to 45 genera of ascomycetous yeasts were sensitive to the mycocin, while basidiomycetous species were resistant.

Antifungal Activity of Lipophilic Bisphosphonates

ACS Infectious Diseases
We investigated the activity of a series of 75 lipophilic bisphosphonates against Candida glabrata. Thirty-six compounds had MIC < 1 μg/mL, 18 had MIC < 0.5 μg/mL, and 2 had MIC = 0.13 μg/mL, comparable to amphotericin B and caspofungin. The lipophilic bisphosphonates were ∼20-fold more potent against C.
