Translophagy—A potential link between autophagy impairment and translational errors

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neurodegenerative diseases are characterised by the accumulation of abnormal proteins and protein aggregates, but their origin often remains unknown. We propose that selective autophagy removes damaged protein‐making machinery, preventing errors during protein synthesis.

Progress in enterovirus D68-neutralizing antibodies and vaccines

open access: yesJournal of Virology
Enterovirus D68 (EV-D68) causes severe respiratory diseases and acute flaccid myelitis (AFM), for which no licensed vaccines or therapeutics are currently available. Neutralizing antibodies (nAbs) block infection via binding capsid epitopes.

Data_Sheet_1_In-silico Antigenicity Determination and Clustering of Dengue Virus Serotypes.docx

open access: yes, 2018
Emerging or re-emerging dengue virus (DENV) causes dengue fever epidemics globally. Current DENV serotypes are defined based on genetic clustering, while discrepancies are frequently observed between the genetic clustering and the antigenicity ...

Prospecting the protein design landscape

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review outlines the current state of various protein design approaches. We discuss the current possibilities enabled by recently released tools, highlight future avenues to pursue in protein design, and underscore the crucial role of key databases and resources for successful protein design workflows.

Antigenicity of Ehrlich Ascites Tumor Part 2, Antigenicity of Ribosomal Protein in Ehrlich Ascites Tumor [PDF]

open access: yes, 1968
Antigenicity of ribosomal protein in Ehrlich ascites tumor and the biochemical characters were studied. The cytotoxic activity of immunized male dd-mice serum globulin was proved by cell culture test.

The ubiquitin system in normal and infected germinal center B cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The ubiquitin system plays a central role in germinal center (GC) B cells, influencing differentiation to long‐lived memory B cells. Oncogenic gammaherpesviruses gain access to memory B cells by establishing latency in GC B cells. Mapping ubiquitin mechanisms in normal and infected GC B cells will define specific molecular circuits in B cells germane ...

Smaller is better: nanobodies meet NMR

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nanobodies are single‐domain antigen‐binding fragments derived from camelid heavy chain antibodies. Their small size, high stability, and exceptional specificity make nanobodies uniquely useful probes for NMR studies of protein dynamics, transient conformational states, and protein–protein interactions.

Membrane composition and thermodynamic identity as boundaries of life for synthetic cell research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
What makes a cell a cell? The boundary of a living cell is not just a wall. Read as a Markov blanket, the membrane separates internal from external states, generating identity and non‐equilibrium order. Can this identity be rebuilt from scratch in a synthetic cell?

Inactivation and loss of antigenicity of esterase by sugars and a steroid [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Glycation, the non-enzymic reaction of sugars with proteins, has an important role in the complications of diabetes. It has been studied mostly in structural proteins but more recently has been shown to inactivate enzymes.

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.
