[Tissue polypeptide antigen and carcinoembryonic antigen in bladder neoplasms].

open access: yesMedycyna pracy, 1998
The study was designed to evaluate the effect of acetilation phenotype and smoking on the concentration of tissue polypeptide antigen (TPA) and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) in serum of patients with neoplasm of bladder. The study covered a group of 76 patients suffering from neoplasm of bladder and a control group composed of 46 persons.

On the crossroad between tolerance and posttransplant lymphoma. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
The role of the Epstein-Barr virus in the development of post-transplant lymphomas is well established. However, not all lymphomas that arise in these patients contain Epstein-Barr virus, suggesting that other cofactors are involved in tumor pathogenesis.

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Neoplasia Blástica de Células Dendríticas Plasmocitóides [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm is a rare and aggressive hematodermic neoplasia with frequent cutaneous involvement and leukemic dissemination. We report the case of a 76-year-old man with a 2 month history of violaceous nodules and a tumor

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

PET/CT imaging for tumour response assessment to immunotherapy: current status and future directions

open access: yesEuropean Radiology Experimental, 2020
Recent immunotherapeutic approaches have evolved as powerful treatment options with high anti-tumour responses involving the patient’s own immune system. Passive immunotherapy applies agents that enhance existing anti-tumour responses, such as antibodies

Lesions of pemphigus vulgaris on irradiated skin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Role of CD1A and HSP60 in the antitumoral response of oesophageal cancer

open access: yesOncology Reviews, 2011
Oesophageal cancer (OC) is one of the most common and severe forms of tumor. A wider knowledge of molecular mechanisms which lead to a normal epithelium becoming a neoplasm may reveal new strategies to improve treatment and outcome of this disease.

RAB family gene expression in breast cancer cells under influence of paclitaxel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The aim of this study was to investigate the role of paclitaxel on RAB family of genes in primary breast cancer cell lines. The cancer breast cells obtained from 40 women during mastectomy were used to address this issue. The group included patients with
