Partial Amino Acid Sequence of a Novel Protozoan Parasite Antigen that Inhibits Non‐Specific Cytotoxic Cell Activity

Scandinavian Journal of Immunology, 1994
Monoclonal antibody (MoAb) 18C2, prepared against a human EBV transformed lymphoblastic cell line (NC‐37) is specific for a target cell ligand recognized by fish NCC and by mammalian NK cells. MoAb 18C2 inhibits the lysis of a variety of transformed murine and human cells (e. g. NC‐37, YAC‐1, K562, etc.).

Use of Sequence-Specific Antisense Oligodeoxynucleotides to Determine the Protozoan Parasite Antigen Recognized by Nonspecific Cytotoxic Cells

Current Microbiology, 2000
The antigen on the protozoan parasite Tetrahymena pyriformis recognized by catfish nonspecific cytotoxic cells (NCC) is a 46- to 48-kDa protein referred to as NKTag. The complete cDNA-derived amino acid sequence of NKTag has been obtained. The antigenic determinant of NKTag corresponding to the NCC binding site has been determined with synthetic ...

Antigenic components of the protozoan parasite Leishmania enriettii inducing humoral and cell-mediated immune responses in infected guinea-pig

Immunochemistry, 1977
Abstract Subcellular fractions of Leishmania enriettii promastigotes were prepared by differential centrifugation of parasite homogenates. Antigenic activities of these fractions were determined by microcomplement fixation and indirect radioimmunoassay methods using L. enriettii immune guinea-pig serum.

Altered expression of class I major histocompatibility antigens on bovine cells infected with the protozoan parasite Theileria annulata

Veterinary Immunology and Immunopathology, 1996
Theileria annulata infection is controlled by MHC class I restricted cytotoxic T cell killing of infected cells. The long term persistence of parasite suggests that it employs a mechanism to avoid immune surveillance. In this paper we describe the modification of BoLA class I antigens on the surface of Theileria annulata transformed lymphoblastoid ...

Immune response of channel catfish, Ictalurus punctatus Rafinesque, to bacterial and protozoan antigens administered by three routes

Aquaculture, 1985
Abstract Experiments were conducted to measure the agglutinating antibody response of channel catfish to a particulate and a soluble antigen administered simultaneously by one of three routes. Specific antibody production in response to administration of particulate brucella tube-test antigen via intramuscular injection, oral drench, and topical ...

Thymus Dependency and Chronic Antigenic Stimulation: Immunity to Parasitic Protozoans and Helminths

1973
Knowledge of the immunology of protozoal and helminthic infections has lagged behind developments in the field of immunology as a whole; some significant advances have been made in recent years, but the mechanisms which determine the protective immune responses to these parasites are still obscure.

Recognition of protozoan parasite antigens by murine T lymphocytes I. Induction of specific T lymphocyte‐dependent proliferative response to Leishmania tropica

European Journal of Immunology, 1979
AbstractIn order to assess the T cell response to Leishmania tropica in the mouse, a recently described method for the study of T lymphocyte activation by protein antigens has been used. Periaortic and inguinal lymph node cells obtained from mice previously injected at the base of the tail with L.

IMMUNOPRECIPITATION OF BIOSYNTHETICALLY‐LABELLED PRODUCTS IN THE IDENTIFICATION OF ANTIGENS OF MURINE RED CELLS INFECTED WITH THE PROTOZOAN PARASITE, PLASMODIUM BERGHEI

Australian Journal of Experimental Biology and Medical Science, 1979
SummaryIn this methodological paper an immunoprecipitation technique has been optimised for the identification of antigens of Plasmodium berghei‐infected blood which react with antibody specificities in a host‐protective antiserum. Extracted 3H‐leucine biosynthetically‐labelled products of infected blood were sequentially reacted and precipitated with ...
