Same day identification and full panel antimicrobial susceptibility testing of bacteria from positive blood culture bottles made possible by a combined lysis-filtration method with MALDI-TOF VITEK mass spectrometry and the VITEK2 system. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Rapid identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing of microorganisms causing bloodstream infections or sepsis have the potential to improve patient care. This proof-of-principle study evaluates the Lysis-Filtration Method for identification as

Modelling the antimicrobial pharmacodynamics for bacterial strains with versus without acquired resistance to fluoroquinolones or cephalosporins

open access: yesJournal of Global Antimicrobial Resistance, 2022
: Objectives: Antimicrobial resistance threatens therapeutic options for human and animal bacterial diseases worldwide. Current antimicrobial treatment regimens were designed against bacterial strains that were fully susceptible to them.

Antimicrobial Susceptibility of Bifidobacteria

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 1993
The antimicrobial susceptibility of 37 strains of bifidobacteria to 18 antimicrobial agents was determined by a macrodilution broth method. Most of the strains used were isolated from commercial yogurts and starters. Tested organisms were usually sensitive to Gram-positive spectrum antibiotics (bacitracin, erythromycin, lincomycin, and vancomycin), and

Ten years of external quality assessment (EQA) of Neisseria gonorrhoeae antimicrobial susceptibility testing in Europe elucidate high reliability of data

open access: yesBMC Infectious Diseases, 2019
Background Confidence in any diagnostic and antimicrobial susceptibility testing data is provided by appropriate and regular quality assurance (QA) procedures. In Europe, the European Gonococcal Antimicrobial Susceptibility Programme (Euro-GASP) has been

Characterization of Amino Acid Substitutions in the Two-Component Regulatory System AdeRS Identified in Multidrug-Resistant Acinetobacter baumannii

open access: yesmSphere, 2021
In Acinetobacter baumannii, resistance-nodulation-cell division (RND)-type efflux is a resistance mechanism of great importance since it contributes to reduced susceptibility to multiple antimicrobial compounds.

A compilation of antimicrobial susceptibility data from a network of 13 Lebanese hospitals reflecting the national situation during 2015–2016

open access: yesAntimicrobial Resistance and Infection Control, 2019
Background There is a lack of official national antimicrobial resistance (AMR) data in Lebanon. Individual hospitals generate their own antibiotic susceptibility data in the form of yearly pamphlets.

ANTIMICROBIAL SUSCEPTIBILITY;

open access: yesThe Professional Medical Journal, 2019
Background: The emergence and spread of antibiotic resistant bacteria causing infection is a great health issue for clinicians. The problem of multidrug resistant (i.e. resistant to at least three groups of antimicrobial) is becoming more and more threatening.

Antimicrobial Drug Prescription and Neisseria gonorrhoeae Susceptibility, United States, 2005–2013

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2017
We investigated whether outpatient antimicrobial drug prescribing is associated with Neisseria gonorrhoeae antimicrobial drug susceptibility in the United States. Using susceptibility data from the Gonococcal Isolate Surveillance Project during 2005–2013

Antimicrobial susceptibilities of Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae [PDF]

open access: yesAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, 1990
The in vitro susceptibilities of 10 isolates of Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae to 16 antimicrobial agents were determined. Penicillin and imipenem were the most active agents, followed by piperacillin, cefotaxime, ciprofloxacin, pefloxacin, and clindamycin. Some resistance was observed with erythromycin, tetracycline, and chloramphenicol.

Efficacy Profiles of Antimicrobials Evaluated against Staphylococcus Species Isolated from Canine Clinical Specimens

open access: yesAnimals, 2021
Cross-resistance occurs between antimicrobials with either similar mechanisms of action and/or similar chemical structures, or even between unrelated antimicrobials.
