Antimicrobials and antimicrobial resistance
2018The emergence and spread of molecular mechanisms which make bacteria resistant to antibiotics together constitute a significant threat to human health which is global and growing. Two research projects with implications for the understanding of bacterial pathogenicity and antibiotic resistance are presented here.

2017By 2050, it is expected that antimicrobial resistance (AMR) will overtake cancer to become the world’s biggest killer. As the pharmaceutical industry spends less on antibiotic research and development, universities have an increasing role to play. As part of this degree, my two research projects approach AMR from different angles.
