Total Synthesis of the (+)‐Antimycin A3 Family: Structure Elucidation of (+)‐Antimycin A3a.

ChemInform, 2003
Abstract (+)-Antimycin A3a (AA3a), one component of the natural antibiotic antimycin A3, was synthesized using an asymmetric aza-Claisen rearrangement. The stereochemistry at the 2′ position on the acyloxy side chain of AA3a was established as S-configuration by comparison of the synthetic AA3a and the natural AA3a.

Studies on the mechanism of inhibition of the mitochondrial electron transport by antimycin. II. Antimycin as an allosteric inhibitor

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Bioenergetics, 1969
Abstract 1. Pretreatment of sub-mitochondrial particles with cholate results in a change in the curve describing inhibition by antimycin of the succinate-cytochrome c reductase from sigmoidal towards linear. This effect of cholate is reversed by partial removal of the cholate by dialysis, either in the absence or presence of antimycin.

Detection of antimycin-binding subunits of Complex III by photoaffinity-labeling with an azido derivative of antimycin

Journal of Bioenergetics and Biomembranes, 1985
Deformamidoazidoantimycin A (DAA), a photoactive derivative of antimycin A containing an azido group substituting for the formamido group attached to the phenyl ring, was synthesized. The ultraviolet spectrum of DAA was almost identical to that of antimycin A, indicating little alteration of the electronic structure of the substituted phenyl ring by ...

Oxidoreduction of cytochrome b in the presence of antimycin

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Bioenergetics, 1972
Abstract 1. The effect of oxidizing equivalents on the redox state of cytochrome b in the presence of antimycin has been studied in the presence and absence of various redox mediators. 2. The antimycin-induced extra reduction of cytochrome b is always dependent on the initial presence of an oxidant such as oxygen.

Enzymatic Synthesis of Dilactone Scaffold of Antimycins

ACS Chemical Biology, 2012
Antimycins are a family of natural products possessing outstanding biological activities and unique structures, which have intrigued chemists for over a half century. The antimycin structural skeleton is built on a nine-membered dilactone ring containing one alkyl, one acyloxy, two methyl moieties, and an amide linkage connecting to a 3 ...

The effect of antimycin a on carotenogenesis in Verticillium agaricinum

Planta, 1973
Antimycin A did not induce carotenogenesis in dark grown cultures of V. agaricinum, but total protein was increased. In light, antimycin A did not affect total carotenoids, although protein was slightly increased. The results suggest that antimycin A could not have acted here as an inducer for the synthesis of specific carotenogenic enzymes or by ...
