ERYTHROCYTE ANTIOXIDANT ENZYME ACTIVITIES IN CHILDREN WITH MYELOMENINGOCELE

Developmental Medicine & Child Neurology, 1995
SUMMARYErythrocyte free radical scavenging enzyme activities and their cofuctor trace elements in plasma were assessed in 26 selected patients with myelomeningocele, both parents from 10 selected families, and 14 healthy adult controls. All index children except one were deficient in erythrocyte glutathione peroxidase (GSH‐Px).

Antioxidant Enzyme Activity in the Maturing Rat Testis

Journal of Andrology, 1992
Abstract: Developmental profiles of the activity of the antioxidant enzymes superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase, glutathione peroxidase (GSH‐Px), glutathione transferase (GSH‐Tr), and hexose monophosphate shunt (HMS) were measured in the rat testis and liver.

Highly stable enzyme-mimicking nanocomposite of antioxidant activity

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2019
A highly stable nanocomposite of antioxidant activity was developed by immobilization of a superoxide dismutase-mimicking metal complex on copolymer-functionalized nanoclay. The layered double hydroxide (LDH) nanoclays were synthesized and surface modification was performed by adsorbing poly(vinylpyridine-b-methacrylic acid) (PVPMAA). The effect of the

Enzyme-Catalyzed Change of Antioxidants Content and Antioxidant Activity of Asparagus Juice

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2006
A pectolytic enzyme preparation from Aspergillus niger (pectinase AN) decreased most rutin content and antioxidant activity of asparagus juice. To investigate the mechanism of such loss, we analyzed several possible related enzyme activities in pectinase AN.

[Blood antioxidative enzymes during epileptic activity].

Biulleten' eksperimental'noi biologii i meditsiny, 1987
It has been shown that the development of generalized epileptic activity in rats led to the decrease in superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity without affecting glutathione peroxidase (GP) and glutathione reductase (GR) activity. Long-term examination of 13 patients suffering from generalized forms of epilepsy has shown an about 30% decrease in SOD and GP

Antioxidant enzyme activities and malondialdehyde levels related to aging

Clinica Chimica Acta, 2001
Free oxygen radicals have been proposed as important causative agents of aging. We have evaluated age-related changes in antioxidant enzyme activities and lipid peroxidation. We measured erythrocyte superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GPx) and plasma malondialdehyde (MDA) levels.

Activities of conjugating and antioxidant enzymes following endotoxin exposure

Journal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, 1999
Endotoxin exposure elicits various responses in mammals including the acute phase response that has been shown to cause changes in the activity of several forms of cytochrome P450s and other enzymes. Therefore, the hepatic conjugating enzyme, glutathione S-transferase (GST), and UDP-glucuronosyltransferase (UDPGT), the antioxidant enzymes, glutathione ...

[Platelet antioxidant enzyme activities in arteriopathy].

Pathologie-biologie, 1988
Some publications have pointed out that oxygen free radicals can induce injury of vessel wall and increase platelet aggregation and clotting, which can suppose a dependent relationship with arteriosclerotic process. We therefore studied the hypothesis of a possible abnormal platelet antioxidant enzymatic equipment in arteriopathic patients.

Antioxidant enzymes and sport activity

2019
Strenuous physical exercise generates intracellular free radicals which may impair the pro-oxidant to antioxidant balance thus resulting in an oxidative stress which led to cell biomolecules damage. In this paper a survey of the main antioxidant enzyme systems involved in the sport activity is presented.

Lipid Peroxidation and Antioxidative Enzyme Activities in Childhood Epilepsy

Journal of Child Neurology, 2002
This study aimed to investigate the relationship among lipid peroxidation, subsequent activation of scavenger enzymes (superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase), and the presence of structural abnormality in 52 epileptic children receiving monotherapy (medically responsive) or polytherapy (medically intractable).
