Antioxidant activity of peptide-based angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors
Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry, 2012Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors are important for the treatment of hypertension as they can decrease the formation of vasopressor hormone angiotensin II (Ang II) and elevate the levels of vasodilating hormone bradykinin. It is observed that bradykinin contains a Ser-Pro-Phe motif near the site of hydrolysis.

Lipid peroxidation and antioxidant enzymes activity in avian semen
Animal Reproduction Science, 2012The present study compared the antioxidant system and lipid peroxidation in semen of two avian species: chicken and goose. The experiment was conducted on Greenleg Partridge roosters and White Koluda(®) ganders, each represented by 10 mature males.

Ozone tolerance and antioxidant enzyme activity in soybean cultivars
Photosynthesis Research, 2000The current study confirmed earlier conclusions regarding differential ozone (O(3)) tolerances of two soybean cultivars, Essex and Forrest, and evaluated antioxidant enzyme activities of these two varieties based on their performance under environmentally relevant, elevated O(3) conditions. The experiment was conducted in open-top chambers in the field

Oxidative damage and antioxidant enzyme activities in experimental hypothyroidism
Cell Biochemistry and Function, 2003AbstractFree radicals are now well known to damage cellular components. To investigate whether age and thyroid level affect peroxidation speed, we examined the levels of malondialdehyde and antioxidant enzyme activities in different age groups of hypothyroid rats.

The Changes in Endogenous Antioxidant Enzyme Activity After Postconditioning
Cellular and Molecular Neurobiology, 20061. The aim of this work was to study potential mechanisms participating in postischemic protection of selectively vulnerable CA1 neurons in the hippocampus. Experiments were focused on measuring changes in endogenous antioxidant enzyme activity. 2. Forebrain cerebral ischemia was induced in a rat by four-vessel occlusion.

Antioxidant Enzymes Activity in Diabetic Patients
2003A group of 109 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM), subdivided in insulin treated (N=56) and non-insulin treated (N=53) subgroups, and 102 non-diabetic control subjects were assessed for key antioxidant enzymes activity in the serum: superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase and glutathione peroxidase (GLPX) as well as for total antioxidant status ...
