9‐Deoxymuzigadial, a Sesquiterpene Isolated From Drimys brasiliensis (Winteraceae), Displays Reduced Cytotoxicity In Vitro and Modulates Leukocyte Activity and Fibrogenesis In Vivo

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT The aims of this study were to investigate in vitro cytotoxic potential and the effects of daily administration during the inflammatory response induced by sponge implants in mice of the sesquiterpene 9‐deoxymuzigadial (9‐DOM), isolated from Drimys brasiliensis (Winteraceae).

Synthesis of 2‐(Quinoxalin‐2‐yl)acetamides and Their Preliminary Cytotoxic and Antibacterial Activity

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Quinoxaline is an aza‐heterocycle found in some bioactive compounds. Thus, to enhance the pharmacological scope of this nucleus, we report a series of 19 acetamides decorated with a quinoxaline core. The synthesis involved the linkage of previously constructed bromoacetamides and hydroxyphenyl quinoxalines via an SN2 reaction. The first series

Unprecedented Nitrite‐Dependent Aromatic Amination to Synthesize 2,4‐Diamino‐3‐Hydroxybenzoic Acid

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 2, January 2026.
By comparing the biosynthetic gene clusters for natural products with 2,4‐diamino‐3‐hydroxybenzoic acid (2,4,3‐DAHBA) moiety and heterologous expression in Streptomyces albus, we identified nine genes required for the biosynthesis of 2,4,3‐DAHBA, including nitrite biosynthesis genes.

Pneumomediastinum and Pneumothorax as Rare Complications of Ruptured Pulmonary Hydatid Cyst: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Ruptured hydatid cyst should be considered when encountering spontaneous pneumothorax and pneumomediastinum, especially in young patients in regions with high prevalence of hydatid cyst. Awareness of atypical signs ensures instant diagnosis, guiding appropriate surgical and medical treatment to prevent serious complications.

Hydatid Cyst in a Post‐Tuberculosis Patient: A Persistent Pulmonary Puzzle – A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Pulmonary tuberculosis and hydatid cyst are two distinct pathologies with vastly different etiologies and management approaches, yet they share common risk factors and pulmonary involvement. This rare and unique case of a hydatid cyst occurring in a post‐tuberculosis patient adds to the limited literature and highlights the diagnostic and ...
