ABSTRACT Proteins are built from modular domains that serve as fundamental units of structure and evolution. While individual domains have been extensively cataloged, their collective distribution across the lineages of life has remained poorly resolved.

ABSTRACT Ferroptosis, an iron‐dependent form of regulated cell death driven by excessive lipid peroxidation, has emerged as a promising therapeutic strategy for cancer. Metformin, a widely used biguanide antidiabetic drug, has recently been reported to induce ferroptosis and exert anticancer effects in various malignancies.

ASCT2 inhibition induces ROS accumulation and activates NRF2‐dependent xCT upregulation in prostate cancer. This adaptive response partially supports residual cystine acquisition and glutathione synthesis, whereas combined ASCT2 and xCT inhibition disrupts redox compensation and predominantly promotes apoptotic cell death.

Suppression of miR‐145‐5p alleviates DN‐associated renal tissue damage by inhibiting NRF2/SLC7A11‐mediated ferroptosis of RTECs. ABSTRACT Purpose This study aimed to investigate the molecular mechanism by which the miR‐145‐5p/NRF2/SLC7A11 axis regulates ferroptosis‐mediated renal tubular epithelial cell (RTEC) injury in diabetic nephropathy (DN ...

E3 Ubiquitin Ligases in MASH‐Associated Liver Fibrosis: Mechanisms and Therapeutic Opportunities
ABSTRACT Metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatohepatitis (MASH) is a major cause of progressive liver fibrosis and can ultimately lead to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). MASH‐associated liver fibrosis develops through a complex interplay among lipotoxic hepatocyte injury, oxidative and endoplasmic reticulum stress, inflammatory ...

The mitochondrial membrane‐shaping machinery MICOS is assembled surprisingly early during the life cycle of Trypanosoma brucei, before the mitochondrion acquires its mature architecture or full respiratory capacity. Our study also identifies two previously uncharacterized proteins associated with MICOS, providing new insight into the early organization

SUMMARY Salt glands, developed in the epidermis of salt‐secreting mangrove plant Avicennia marina leaves and specialized in salt secretion, are critical for improving the survival under high saline habitats. However, the salt secretion mechanism in A. marina remains poorly understood. In this study, laser capture microdissection was employed to isolate

Vibrio cholerae Response to Environmental Factors Including pH and Salt Content in the Absence of Specific Antiporters [PDF]
Vibrio cholerae is a gram-negative gammaproteobacteria, well known for causing the watery-diarrheal disease Cholera. V. cholerae is endemic to the marine and freshwater ecosystems of India and surrounding aquatic environments within that region.
