The Role of Ferroptosis Induced by Iron Overload in Osteoblast and Osteoclast Function

open access: yesCell Biology International, Volume 50, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Iron overload disrupts bone homeostasis by suppressing osteoblast survival and mineralization, while promoting osteoclastogenesis. As a programmed cell death driven by iron‐dependent lipid peroxidation and glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) downregulation. This study investigated the role of ferroptosis in bone cells under iron overload. Exposure

Effects of Trimethoprim on Three Previously Proposed Putative Biomarkers for OCT2/MATE‐Mediated Renal Drug‐Drug Interactions in Healthy Volunteers

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 120, Issue 4, Page 1016-1026, October 2026.
Regulatory agencies request the assessment of the potential of new drugs to cause transporter‐mediated drug‐drug interactions (DDI). This assessment can be improved by integrating endogenous biomarkers during drug development. Regarding the renal excretion of drugs such as metformin, the organic cation transporter (OCT) 2 and multidrug and toxin ...

ArgT functions as an arginine transporter in Staphylococcus aureus

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology
Glycolytic activity is required for Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) to establish an infection. These data indicate that carbon catabolite repression, mediated by CcpA, is active during the initial stages of infection.

Coat Color‐Associated Transcriptomic Differences of Black and White Hortobágyi Racka Sheep Using the RNA‐Seq Technique

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 10, October 2026.
We compared skin transcriptomes of black‐ and white‐coated Hortobágyi Racka sheep using RNA‐seq to identify coat color‐associated molecular differences. Black‐coated sheep showed coordinated upregulation of melanogenesis and melanosome‐related genes together with pathways linked to redox balance, mitochondrial metabolism, and thermogenesis.

Wheat Wild Relatives and Modern Cultivars Differ for Salt Resistance in Terms of Morpho‐Physiological Traits

open access: yesJournal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, Volume 189, Issue 5, Page 721-734, October 2026.
Wheat wild relatives are untapped genetic resources from salinity and drought hit areas. This study presents differential comparative morphophysiological responses of these species and modern wheat cultivars under saline conditions. Salt resistant species produce more shoot and root biomass under saline conditions through salt exclusion and/or tissue ...

First Report of blaCTX‐M‐15 in a Marine Thermotolerant Enterobacter Isolate From Bangladesh: Genomic Insights Into Halotolerance and Antimicrobial Resistance

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 5, October 2026.
Marine‐derived Enterobacter kobei, exhibiting thermotolerance and salt tolerance, is ESBL‐producing and harbors AMR genes (blaCTX‐M‐15, qnrS1) and mobile genetic elements, indicating environmental spread of antimicrobial resistance. ABSTRACT Marine ecosystems are becoming important reservoirs for antimicrobial resistance (AMR). However, genomic data on

Ischemic Stroke and Traumatic Brain Injury: Epidemiology, Molecular Pathways, and Emerging Therapies

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
Schematic overview of secondary brain injury after ischemic stroke and traumatic brain injury. Both conditions trigger endothelial cell dysfunction, pericyte contraction, and upregulated AQP4 expression in astrocytic end‐feet, leading to blood–brain barrier disruption.
