Pediatric Guillain‐Barré Syndrome Post Organ Transplant: Acute and Chronic Complication Requiring High Index of Suspicion

open access: yesPediatric Transplantation, Volume 30, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Guillain‐Barré syndrome (GBS) is an acute, immune‐mediated polyradiculoneuropathy most often triggered by infections such as Campylobacter jejuni, Epstein–Barr virus (EBV), or cytomegalovirus (CMV). Although transplant‐associated GBS is recognized in adults, it remains rare in pediatric recipients, and distinguishing immune‐mediated

Dordaviprone Maintenance After Allogeneic HCT for High‐Risk Acute Myeloid Leukemia and Myelodysplastic Neoplasm

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, Volume 101, Issue 9, Page 2288-2296, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Dordaviprone is a first‐in‐class small‐molecule imipridone. In preclinical studies, it is active against leukemia cells harboring a TP53 mutation or complex karyotype and leukemia stem cells while sparing normal bone marrow cells. This study aimed to determine the safety of dordaviprone maintenance after allogeneic hematopoietic cell ...

Cardiovascular Immune‐Related Adverse Events of Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Summary of Case Reports

open access: yesCancer Reports, Volume 9, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Reports of immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) therapy‐associated immune‐related adverse events (irAEs) exhibit considerable heterogeneity, particularly when comparing data from clinical trials and real‐world observational studies. Methods We conducted a systematic review of real‐world observational studies (case reports and series ...

Rabbit antithymocyte globulin versus horse antithymocyte globulin for treatment of acquired aplastic anemia: a retrospective analysis

open access: yes, 2015
Studies comparing rabbit antithymocyte globulin (rATG) and horse ATG (hATG) in patients with aplastic anemia (AA) have shown conflicting results. These studies included fewer than 60 subjects in the rATG arm with relatively short follow-up.

Giant Cell Myocarditis with Incessant Ventricular Arrhythmias Treated Successfully with Methylprednisolone and Rat Antithymocyte Globulin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Giant cell myocarditis is an aggressive form of this condition that is typically progressive and unresponsive to usual medical treatment. Here, we describe a 34-year-old patient presenting with incessant ventricular arrhythmias with hemodynamic ...

Efficacy of rabbit anti-thymocyte globulin in severe aplastic anemia

open access: yesHaematologica, 2011
Background A combination of horse anti-thymocyte globulin and cyclosporine produces responses in 60–70% of patients with severe aplastic anemia. We performed a phase II study of rabbit anti-thymocyte globulin and cyclosporine as first-line therapy for ...

Safety and Efficacy of Vedolizumab for the Patients With Gastrointestinal Acute Graft‐Versus‐Host Disease Refractory to Steroid Treatment After Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation: A Real‐World, Retrospective Multicenter Study (VAST Study)

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 9, September 2026.
This multicenter, real‐world study with a large sample size (i.e., vedolizumab for aGVHD refractory to steroid treatment, VAST study) was designed to identify the safety and efficacy of vedolizumab treatment in patients with steroid‐refractory gastrointestinal acute graft‐versus‐host disease (SR‐GI‐aGVHD). The overall response rates (ORR) on day 28 and

Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) replication dynamics in HCMV-naive and -experienced immunocompromised hosts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) can infect both HCMV-naive and -experienced transplant patients. In this study, the growth rate of HCMV in HCMV-naive hosts (1.82 units/day; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.44-2.56 units/day) was shown to be significantly ...

Galactose‐Deficient Immunoglobulin A1 Predicts Immunoglobulin A Nephropathy Recurrence After Kidney Transplantation: A Single‐Center Retrospective Study

open access: yesOrgan Medicine, Volume 3, Issue 3, Page 139-147, September 2026.
Serum galactose‐deficient IgA1 levels at 3 and 6 months predicted recurrent IgA nephropathy after kidney transplantation. Recipients without recurrence showed a rapid decline in galactose‐deficient IgA1 after transplantation. Early identification of recurrence risk provided a potential window for targeted post‐transplant intervention.

The Anti-thymocyte Globulin use makes kidney transplantation journey smooth

open access: yesInternational Journal of Endorsing Health Science Research, 2018
Background: The most common immunosuppressant, Anti-thymocyte Globulin (ATGs) has been widely used by clinicians for the treatment and prevention of rejection at the time of organ transplant.
