CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Increased antitumor efficacy of ginsenoside Rh2 via mixed micelles: in vivo and in vitro evaluation

open access: yesDrug Delivery, 2020
The aim of this work is to apply Solutol® HS15 and TPGS to prepare self-assembled micelles loading with ginsenoside Rh2 to increase the solubility of ginsenoside Rh2, hence, improving the antitumor efficacy.

Response to “Radiation Therapeutic Gain and Asian Botanicals,” by Stephen Sagar [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Numerous botanical agents, many of which are used in whole medical system practices (i.e. traditional Chinese medicine, Ayurvedic medicine, etc.), have been shown to exhibit radiomodifying effects on tumors and normal tissues in-vitro and invivo studies.

Defining the role of the tumor vasculature in antitumor immunity and immunotherapy

open access: yesCell Death and Disease, 2018
It is now well established that cancer cells co-exist within a complex environment with stromal cells and depend for their growth and dissemination on tight and plastic interactions with components of the tumor microenvironment (TME). Cancer cells incite

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

Branched-chain amino acid transaminase 1 confers EGFR-TKI resistance through epigenetic glycolytic activation

open access: yesSignal Transduction and Targeted Therapy
Third-generation EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), exemplified by osimertinib, have demonstrated promising clinical efficacy in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Myeloid suppressor cell depletion augments antitumor activity in lung cancer. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
BackgroundMyeloid derived suppressor cells (MDSC) are important regulators of immune responses. We evaluated the mechanistic role of MDSC depletion on antigen presenting cell (APC), NK, T cell activities and therapeutic vaccination responses in murine ...

IL15 Enhances CAR-T Cell Antitumor Activity by Reducing mTORC1 Activity and Preserving Their Stem Cell Memory Phenotype

open access: yesCancer immunology research, 2019
IL15 promotes metabolically fit CAR-T cells with a lessdifferentiated stem cell memory phenotype. Addition of IL15 is a clinically translatable method for improving the antitumor function of ex vivo expanded CAR-T cells, which could improve outcomes for ...
