The need for new antiviral agents

open access: yesAntiviral Research, 1985
Population density and immune status, vectors and virulence of infection, nutritional status, sanitation, genetic susceptibility and medical management of cases, are important factors influencing the incidence and/or severity of virus infections. Thus, the prevalence and clinical importance of virus infections and the need for antiviral drugs differ ...

Honeysuckle‐Derived Nanovesicles Regulate Gut Microbiota for the Treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study explores honeysuckle‐derived nanovesicles (HNVs) for treating inflammatory bowel disease. Orally administered HNVs alleviates colitis in mice by repairing the gut barrier, reducing inflammation, and restoring a healthy gut microbiota.

Post‐Translational Modifications of TOE3 Regulate Antiviral Defense in Tobacco

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CK2αL phosphorylates TOE3 and enhances its stability, while FBXL1 promotes the ubiquitination‐degradation of TOE3 via the 26S proteasome. Compared to CK2αL‐phosphorylated TOE3, nonphosphorylated TOE3 shows a much higher affinity for FBXL1 and is more susceptible to ubiquitination‐degradation, thus facilitating viral infection. The regulatory mechanisms

Vibrational assignments of two polymorphic forms of metaxolone by using DFT calculations and the SQM methodology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
A theoretical study has been performed on the musclerelaxant 5-[(3, 5-dimethylphenoxy)methyl]-1,3-oxazolidin-2-one, of generic name metaxolone (MTX), by using the hybridB3LYP/6-31G calculations in the gas phase and theexperimental available infrared and ...

TWF2 Drives Tumor Progression and Sunitinib Resistance in Renal Cell Carcinoma through Hippo Signaling Suppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Twinfilin actin‐binding protein (TWF2) is upregulated in sunitinib‐resistant renal cell carcinoma (RCC) cells, where it interacts with YAP and protects YAP from degradation. Stabilized YAP translocates into the nucleus and activates transcription of target genes, promoting RCC progression and drug resistance.

A Viral RNA Silencing Suppressor Modulates Reactive Oxygen Species Levels to Induce the Autophagic Degradation of Dicer‐Like and Argonaute‐Like Proteins

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Understanding the virus‐host arms race has been a fascinating topic in virology; contributing significantly to the development of treatments and control strategies for viral diseases. CHV1 employs a sophisticated counter‐defense mechanism in its fungal host by utilizing a viral silencing suppressor to inhibit fungal FMN reductase; thereby modulating ...

Era of direct acting anti-viral agents for the treatment of hepatitis C. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Hepatitis C infection is universal and the most common indication of liver transplantation in the United States. The period of less effective interferon therapy with intolerable side effects has gone.
