A Systems Approach to Study Immuno- and Neuro-Modulatory Properties of Antiviral Agents

open access: yesViruses, 2018
There are dozens of approved, investigational and experimental antiviral agents. Many of these agents cause serious side effects, which can only be revealed after drug administration.

Durable Electro‐Photothermal Superhydrophobic Coatings Based on Liquid‐Like Functionalization of Nanoparticles: Improved Water Repellency and Droplet Rebound

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Multi‐walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are functionalized with liquid‐like linear polydimethylsiloxane (LPDMS) brushes and conventional solid‐like alkyl brushes, then incorporated into a resin and spray‐coated onto substrates. The resulting surfaces exhibit distinct water‐repellent behaviors.

Predictability of IL-28B-polymorphism on protease-inhibitor-based triple-therapy in chronic HCV-genotype-1 patients: A meta-analysis

open access: yes, 2014
AIM: To investigate the predictability of interleukin-28B single nucleotide polymorphism rs12979860 with respect to sustained virological response (SVR) in chronically hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype-1 patients treated with a protease-inhibitor and ...

Biochemical prevention and treatment of viral infections – A new paradigm in medicine for infectious diseases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
For two centuries, vaccination has been the dominating approach to develop prophylaxis against viral infections through immunological prevention. However, vaccines are not always possible to make, are ineffective for many viral infections, and also carry

Implantable Microarray Patch: Engineering at the Nano and Macro Scale for Sustained Therapeutic Release via Synthetic Biodegradable Polymers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 6, March 18, 2025.
This review focuses on the application of synthetic biodegradable microarray patches (MAPs) in sustained drug delivery. Compared to conventional MAPs which release drugs into the skin in an immediate manner, these implantable MAPs release drugs into skin microcirculation gradually as the biodegradable polymers degrade, thus offering sustained release ...

In Vitro and in Vivo Antiviral Activity of Mizoribine Against Foot-And-Mouth Disease Virus

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is a highly contagious viral disease of cloven-hoofed animals, which has significant economic consequences in affected countries. As the currently available vaccines against FMD provide no protection until 4−7 days post-

VDLIN: A Deep Learning‐Based Platform for Methylcobalamin‐Inspired Immunomodulatory Compound Screening

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using the convolutional neural network model VDLIN, Co7 is identified as a promising therapeutic candidate. Co7 demonstrates distinct advantages over MCB by effectively balancing anti‐inflammatory and immune‐stimulatory functions, making it a potential novel approach for immune modulation.

Hepatitis E Virus ORF1 Polyprotein Harbors a Pocket‐Like Cavity That Is Vital for Virus Replication and Represents a Novel Antiviral Target

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Within the hepatitis E virus (HEV) ORF1 polyprotein, the X domain interacts with viral RNA‐dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp), forming a functional “pocket‐like” cavity (PC) that is crucial for viral replication. Structure‐based screening, surface plasmon resonance (SPR) assays, and HEV model validation collectively identify saikosaponin D and ...
