Abstract : Using a homology-based bioinformatics approach a new structural model of the vaccinia virus (VV) I7L proteinase active site has been generated. This model was used to perform Virtual Ligand Screening of a comprehensive library of approximately 3.5 million available compounds including about 208,000 available ketones and aldehydes.

Expert Opinion on Emerging Drugs, 2008
Foremost among the newly described antiviral agents that may be developed into drugs are, for the treatment of human papilloma virus (HPV) infections, cPrPMEDAP; for the treatment of herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections, BAY 57-1293; for the treatment of varicella-zoster virus (VZV) infections, FV-100 (prodrug of Cf 1743); for the treatment of ...

Antiviral Drugs and Acute Kidney Injury (AKI).
Infectious Diseases - Drug Targets, 2019The introductions of more efficient antiviral drugs are common cause drug-induced acute kidney injury (AKI). The true prevalence of antiviral drugs induced nephrotoxicity is hardly determined.

Medical Clinics of North America, 1983
A number of antiviral compounds are currently available, and several others are of great interest. Trifluridine, idoxuridine, and vidarabine are effective topically in herpes simplex virus keratoconjunctivitis infection. Vidarabine (and presumably acyclovir) is effective in herpes simplex virus encephalitis and in herpes zoster infections in the ...

Publisher Summary This chapter provides an overview of the chemical composition and use of different antiviral drugs. Antiviral drugs can be divided into three classes depending upon their mechanisms of action. The first class is of the substances that selectively inhibit viral functions without any significant influence on the metabolism of ...

Publisher Summary This chapter presents the studies of the effects of antiviral drugs. The potential carcinogenicity of cidofovir has been highlighted in animal and in vitro experiments and an invasive squamous cell cancer has anecdotally been reported to have arisen from squamous papillomatosis in a patient who was given multiple injections of ...
