Lipocalin‐2 Restores Soluble Guanylyl Cyclase‐Dependent Dilation of the Afferent Arteriole After Renal Transplantation or Ex Vivo Hypoxia/Reoxygenation in Mice

open access: yesActa Physiologica, Volume 241, Issue 8, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Aim Dilatory microvascular function is impaired in ischemia/reperfusion injury in the kidney. Nitric oxide independent activators of soluble guanylyl cyclase (sGC) provide renal protection by dilating microvessels and preserving perfusion, but their efficacy declines after severe hypoxia.

Kidney Transplantation in Congenital Heart Disease Patients: What Are the Outcomes?

open access: yesPediatric Transplantation, Volume 29, Issue 5, August 2025.
Patients with congenital heart disease (CHD) undergoing kidney transplant experience prolonged length of stay, increased risk for requiring prolonged mechanical ventilation, and posttransplant red blood cell transfusion. Overall, patients with CHD experienced similar long‐term outcomes.

Prostacyclin Therapy as Adjunctive Treatment for Pulmonary Hypertension in Pediatric Heart Transplantation: A Case Report

open access: yesPediatric Transplantation, Volume 29, Issue 5, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Elevated pulmonary vascular resistance is a significant risk factor for right‐ventricle failure and poor outcomes following pediatric heart transplantation. Pulmonary vasodilator therapy can help manage symptoms and improve heart transplant candidacy.

SARM1 Exacerbates Pressure Overload‐Induced Cardiac Hypertrophy and Heart Failure by Enhancing NAD+ Metabolism

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 39, Issue 14, 31 July 2025.
Under pathological conditions, elevated hydrolytic activity of SARM1 significantly depletes NAD+ levels and compromises electron transport chain (ETC) function. This disruption induces mitochondrial dysfunction, elevates ROS production, reduces ATP synthesis, and increases inflammation, which collectively accelerate cardiac hypertrophy (CH) and ...
