Patient-specific image-based computer simulation for theprediction of valve morphology and calcium displacement after TAVI with the Medtronic CoreValve and the Edwards SAPIEN valve [PDF]
AIMS: Our aim was to validate patient-specific software integrating baseline anatomy and biomechanical properties of both the aortic root and valve for the prediction of valve morphology and aortic leaflet calcium displacement after TAVI.

Acidosis Forces Fatty Acid Uptake and Metabolism in Cancer Cells Regardless of Genotype
This study demonstrates that biological acidosis, commonly observed in tumors and ischemic conditions, actively promotes the protonation of fatty acids, thereby facilitating the uptake of their neutral forms. Consequently, the preference for lipid metabolism in acid‐exposed cells does not arise from genetic reprogramming that prioritizes lipids as the ...

Aortic Coarctation: Recent Developments in Experimental and Computational Methods to Assess Treatments for this Simple Condition [PDF]
Coarctation of the aorta (CoA) is often considered a relatively simple disease, but long-term outcomes suggest otherwise as life expectancies are decades less than in the average population and substantial morbidity often exists.

Increased hepatic angiotensinogen (AGT) abundance leads to cardiac diastolic dysfunction via the AngII‐independent pathway. Liver‐derived AGT is internalized by LRP2 in cardiac endothelial cells, subsequently contributing to myocardial diastolic dysfunction by suppressing microvascular angiogenesis via inhibiting the GATA2/Pim3 pathway.

Computational fluid dynamicaccuracy in mimicking changes in blood hemodynamics in patients with acute type IIIb aortic dissection treated with TEVAR [PDF]
Background: We aimed to verify the accuracy of the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) algorithm for blood flow reconstruction for type IIIb aortic dissection (TBAD) before and after thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR).

This study proposes for the first time that hepatic GSDMD plays a key protective role in sepsis. Hepatic GSDMD may release inflammatory inhibitory factors including VEGF‐B and Gremlin‐1 through pore‐forming activity to inhibit the production of inflammatory factors from macrophages, thereby alleviating the inflammatory response of septic mice ...
