A Wideband, Four-Element, All-Digital Beamforming System for Dense Aperture Arrays in Radio Astronomy [PDF]
Densely-packed, all-digital aperture arrays form a key area of technology development required for the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) radio telescope. The design of real-time signal processing systems for digital aperture arrays is currently a central ...

Several techniques have been developed to phase apertures in the context of astronomical telescopes with segmented mirrors. Phasing multiple apertures, however, is important in a wide range of optical applications. The application of primary interest in this paper is the phasing of multiple short pulse laser beams for fast ignition fusion experiments ...

Controlled syntheses of lanthanide coordination polymers based on the dihydroxybenzoquinone (DHBQ) organic linker afforded large single crystals of Ln‐DHBQ CPs (Ln = Yb, Nd). A novel structural variant of Yb‐DHBQ is identified by means of single crystal diffraction analysis.

Galaxy-galaxy(-galaxy) lensing as a sensitive probe of galaxy evolution
The gravitational lensing effect provides various ways to study the mass environment of galaxies. We investigate how galaxy-galaxy(-galaxy) lensing can be used to test models of galaxy formation and evolution.

Modulating Electrochemical CO2 Reduction Pathways via Interfacial Electric Field
Engineering interfacial electric fields in Cu/ITO electrodes enables precise control of CO2 reduction pathways. Charge transfer from Cu to ITO generates positively charged Cu species that steer selectivity from ethylene toward methane. This work demonstrates how interfacial electric‐field modulation can direct reaction intermediates and transform ...

Positive‐Tone Nanolithography of Antimony Trisulfide with Femtosecond Laser Wet‐Etching
A butyldithiocarbamic acid (BDCA) etchant is used to fabricate various micro‐ and nanoscale structures on amorphous antimony trisulfide (a‐Sb2S3) thin film via femtosecond laser etching. Numerical analysis and experimental results elucidate the patterning mechanism on gold (reflective) and quartz (transmissive) substrates.

Photoswitching Conduction in Framework Materials
This mini‐review summarizes recent advances in state‐of‐the‐art proton and electron conduction in framework materials that can be remotely and reversibly switched on and off by light. It discusses the various photoswitching conduction mechanisms and the strategies employed to enhance photoswitched conductivity.

Complexity of Polarized Spatial Patterns in Large Area Square VCSEL [PDF]
We consider pattern selection process in a wide aperture VCSEL near threshold. We show that for a square geometry of the laser aperture, the patterns formed at lasing threshold can be very complicated because of a possible misalignment between directions

We studied periodic aperture imaging with various subaperture configurations in terms of their point spread functions, optical transfer functions, and imaging quality. A circular-shaped unit cell provides the best performance compared to square- and cross-shaped unit cells when the total aperture size and collection area are kept the same.
