Apolipoprotein E isoforms and rare mutations: parallel reduction in binding to cells and to heparin reflects severity of associated type III hyperlipoproteinemia.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1995
The LDL receptor-independent binding of human apolipoprotein E isoforms and rare apoE mutations were studied on LDL receptor-deficient human fibroblasts using chemical cross-linking and cell binding studies.

Genetic association of CDC2 with cerebrospinal fluid tau in Alzheimer's disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We have recently reported that a polymorphism in the cell division cycle (CDC2) gene, designated Ex6 + 7I/D, is associated with Alzheimer's disease (AD). The CDC2 gene is located on chromosome 10q21.1 close to the marker D10S1225 linked to AD.

The FOXC2‐LAMA4 Axis Orchestrates Vasculogenic Mimicry and Immunosuppressive Niche Formation to Drive Metastatic Cascade in Renal Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Advanced clear cell renal cell carcinoma metastasis is driven by a FOXC2+ tumor subpopulation. These cells execute vasculogenic mimicry for dissemination and secrete LAMA4. LAMA4 engages macrophage ITGA6, activating the STAT6/GATA3 axis to polarize macrophages into a pro‐metastatic, immunosuppressive phenotype.

AIF1+CSF1R+ MSCs, induced by TNF‐α, act to generate an inflammatory microenvironment and promote hepatocarcinogenesis

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Mesenchymal stem cells subset, educated by TNF‐α, are involved to generate inflammatory microenvironment and promote hepatocarcinogenesis Abstract Background and Aims Increasing evidence suggests that mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) home to injured local tissues and the tumor microenvironment in the liver.

Islet Amyloid Polypeptide Modelled to Simulate Diabetes Co‐Oligomerized with β‐Amyloid 1‐42 Reproducing the Pathological Cascade of Alzheimer's Disease in Human Cerebral Organoids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Human islet amyloid polypeptide (hIAPP) was used to mimic T2DM, and Aβ42‐hIAPP co‐oligomers were delivered into the human mature cerebral organoids (COs), which reproduce typical AD pathology and significant neuronal death more closely resembling that of AD patients.

Interconnection at the level of uric acid and apolipoprotein e in the blood of persons with normal and hyper lipidemia

open access: yesАтеросклероз, 2011
To investigate the levels of uric acid and apoE in patients with normo- and hyperlipidemia. The serum lipids, apolipoproteins and uric acid levels were measured with Chronolab (Switzerland) kits in 78 patients: 53 patients with normolipidemia and 25 ...

Effect of fenofibrate and atorvastatin on VLDL apoE metabolism in men with the metabolic syndrome

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2012
We examined the effects of fenofibrate and atorvastatin on very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) apolipoprotein (apo)E metabolism in the metabolic syndrome (MetS). We studied 11 MetS men in a randomized, double-blind, crossover trial.

Early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease: update on combining genetic and brain-imaging measures. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease is often missed or delayed in clinical practice; thus, methods to improve early detection would provide opportunities for early intervention, symptomatic treatment, and improved patient function.

AXL Promotes Ischemic Myelin Repair Through Alleviating Myelin Debris Deposition and Lipid Droplets Accumulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microglial AXL drives white matter repair after stroke by orchestrating the cleanup of myelin debris. Mechanistically, AXL signals through EGR1 to boost Smpd1 transcription, regulating sphingolipid metabolism and preventing lipid droplet toxicity. Restoring the pathway with ASM therapy mitigates damage, positioning AXL as a key node for therapeutic ...
