Abstract Purpose Proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) is one of the leading causes of blindness in working‐age adults. We have previously shown that the risk of PDR is significantly elevated in individuals with intrauterine exposure to famine. However, the genetic mechanisms mediating this association remain unknown.

Data‐driven thresholds for standardized classification of severe Alzheimer's disease neuropathology using digital neuropathology

We generated digital pathologic algorithms (AI‐based modules that can be freely shared) to: optimize the sampling (ROI) for diagnosis of ADNC‐related tau pathology; compare/transition between Aperio and HALO platforms; and rationalize severe Braak NFT staging, so that all Braak‐VI cases had dementia, and all Braak‐V cases had MCI or dementia.

Clinicopathological and molecular heterogeneity of amyloid‐β in unnatural deaths under 70 years: A forensic autopsy–based study

This study investigates amyloid‐beta (Aβ) pathology in a forensic autopsy cohort of relatively young individuals (40–69 years). Using detailed immunohistochemical analyses of multiple Aβ species, we demonstrate marked regional and molecular heterogeneity, particularly within the striatum.

Is there a role for cannabidiol in obesity, metabolic syndrome and binge eating?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the most abundant phytocannabinoids isolated from the Cannabis sativa plant. CBD is a lipophilic, non‐intoxicating substance that differently from Δ9‐tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9‐THC) does not present the typical profile of a drug of abuse.
