The H2Valdien derivatives regulate the epithelial–mesenchymal transition of hepatoma carcinoma cells through the Hedgehog signaling pathway

open access: yesOpen Medicine
This research delves into the influence of H2Valdien derivatives on the proliferation, migration, and apoptosis induction in hepatoma carcinoma cells (HepG2, Huh-7, and SMMC-7721), with a specific emphasis on inhibiting epithelial–mesenchymal transition (

MiR‐513a promotes human erythroid differentiation by modulating c‐Jun

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
During early human erythropoiesis, miR‐513a promoted erythroid differentiation in primary human CD34+ hematopoietic stem‐progenitor cells and human TF‐1 erythroleukemic cells by indirectly decreasing c‐Jun and phospho‐c‐Jun expression, which are associated with increased GATA1 expression.

Combined 5‐aminolevulinic acid and ferric ammonium citrate treatment promotes hair follicle growth by activating dermal papilla cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
5‐Aminolevulinic acid combined with ferric ammonium citrate (5‐ALA/FAC) stimulates dermal papilla cell activity and promotes hair follicle growth. The treatment enhances ERK and AKT signaling, increases hair‐inductive gene expression, and restores dermal papilla function suppressed by dihydrotestosterone and oxidative stress, resulting in enhanced hair

An investigation into the mechanisms by which bim gene expression is regulated in sympathetic neurons

open access: yes, 2010
Neuronal apoptosis plays a critical role in development and disease. Developing sympathetic neurons require nerve growth factor (NGF) for their survival and die by apoptosis in its absence.

Blood‐based proteomic profiling reveals context‐dependent changes in BCL2‐associated signaling during taxane therapy in breast cancer patients

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemotherapy side effects significantly impact cancer survivors' quality of life. Using protein levels in blood samples from breast cancer patients before and after 12 weeks of taxane treatment, we detected treatment‐dependent changes in calcium signaling and aging pathways associated with cancer recurrence.

hUMSCs-exo@Cyasterone protects the cell model of steroid-induced femur head necrosis by regulating N-glycosylation modification of CTSD-N258A.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
ObjectiveIt has been demonstrated that both hUCMSC-exo and Cyasterone exhibit protective effects against steroid-induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head (SIONFH).

Investigating the Regulatory Circuitry of Protein Kinases and Proteases in Apoptosis

open access: yes, 2017
Apoptosis is a tightly regulated cellular process essential for normal development and tissue homeostasis. Perturbations to apoptotic signaling underscores numerous pathogenic processes emphasizing the importance of apoptotic regulation. During apoptosis, caspases orchestrate cellular degradation through proteolytic cleavage of key structural and ...

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.
