Employing mesh segmentation algorithms as fabrication strategies: Pattern generation based on reaction-diffusion mechanism [PDF]

open access: yesFME Transactions, 2019
This paper examines how the evolution of architectural generative design processes aim to apply similar physical and geometrical principles of biological processes taking place during development and to translate them to fabrication processes. In analogy

The transverse momentum spectrum of low mass Drell–Yan production at next-to-leading order in the parton branching method

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2020
It has been observed in the literature that measurements of low-mass Drell–Yan (DY) transverse momentum spectra at low center-of-mass energies $$\sqrt{s}$$ s are not well described by perturbative QCD calculations in collinear factorization in the region

Inference of R(0) and transmission heterogeneity from the size distribution of stuttering chains. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Computational Biology, 2013
For many infectious disease processes such as emerging zoonoses and vaccine-preventable diseases, [Formula: see text] and infections occur as self-limited stuttering transmission chains.

Reconstruction of cell population dynamics using CFSE. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Background: Quantifying cell division and death is central to many studies in the biological sciences. The fluorescent dye CFSE allows the tracking of cell division in vitro and in vivo and provides a rich source of information with which to test ...

Therapeutic Apheresis in Nigeria: A Multi‐Center Summary of Abstracts From the Inaugural Nigerian Society for Apheresis Scientific Meeting

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Therapeutic apheresis (TA) is an established treatment modality for hematologic, neurologic, and immunologic disorders, yet access remains severely limited in sub‐Saharan Africa. Donor apheresis, including platelet apheresis collection from healthy donors, represents an important complementary modality supporting blood product ...

Tail generating functions for extendable branching processes

open access: yes, 2017
We study branching processes of independently splitting particles in the continuous time setting. If time is calibrated such that particles live on average one unit of time, the corresponding transition rates are fully determined by the generating ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Sesqui-type branching processes

open access: yes, 2018
We consider branching processes consisting of particles (individuals) of two types (type and type ) in which only particles of type have offspring, proving estimates for the survival probability and the (tail of) the distribution of the total number of

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Polyesters Based on Linoleic Acid for Biolubricant Basestocks: Low-Temperature, Tribological and Rheological Properties.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Presently, plant oils which contain high percentage of linoleic acid 1 are perceived to be a viable alternative to mineral oil for biolubricant applications due to their biodegradability and technical properties.
