Development of the Mammary Gland in Mouse: A Whole-Mount Microscopic Analysis

open access: yesBio-Protocol
The mammary gland undergoes functional, developmental, and structural changes that are essential for lactation and reproductive processes. An overview of such unique tissue can offer clearer insights into mammary development and tumorigenesis.

Improved analysis of arabinoxylan-bound hydroxycinnamate conjugates in grass cell walls

open access: yesBiotechnology for Biofuels, 2020
Background Arabinoxylan in grass cell walls is acylated to varying extents by ferulate and p-coumarate at the 5-hydroxy position of arabinosyl residues branching off the xylan backbone.

Central limit theorems for multicolor urns with dominated colors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
An urn contains balls of d≥2 colors. At each time n≥1, a ball is drawn and then replaced together with a random number of balls of the same color. Let A n = diag (An,1,…,An,d) be the n-th reinforce matrix. Assuming that EAn,j=EAn,1 for all n and j, a few

C2α‐carbanion‐protonating glutamate discloses tradeoffs between substrate accommodation and reaction rate in actinobacterial 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

ML-based classification in an open-source framework for the ALICE heavy-flavour analysis [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
The ALICE Collaboration aims to precisely measure heavy-flavour (HF) hadron production in high-energy proton-proton and heavy-ion collisions to provide valuable tests of perturbative quantum chromodynamics models and insights into hadronisation ...

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 regulates cell adhesion and membrane protrusive activity of ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.
