On Properties of the Hyperbolic Distribution

open access: yesMathematics
This paper is set to analytically describe properties of the hyperbolic distribution. This law, along with the variance-gamma distribution, is one of the most popular normal mean–variance mixtures from the point of view of various applications.

Pharmacological inhibition of hydroxysteroid 11‐beta dehydrogenase type 1 (11‐βHSD1) after myocardial infarction preserves cardiac function in a translational mini‐pig model

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Purpose Plasma glucocorticoids increase acutely after MI, thereafter tissue levels are amplified selectively within cells expressing 11‐ßhydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 (11‐ßHSD1) that regenerates active glucocorticoids from circulating metabolites.

Harmonic conformable refinements of Hermite-Hadamard Mercer inequalities by support line and related applications

open access: yesMathematical and Computer Modelling of Dynamical Systems
We establish new conformable fractional Hermite-Hadamard (H–H) Mercer type inequalities for harmonically convex functions using the concept of support line.

PHGDH Orchestrates Cell Cycle Progression to Drive Cardiomyocyte Proliferation and Myocardial Regeneration via TGF‐β/Smad Signalling Pathway

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
PHGDH promoted cardiomyocyte proliferation and myocardial regeneration via cell cycle and TGF‐β/Smad signalling pathways during cardiac repair. Moreover, PHGDH benefits cardiac repair and cardiomyocyte proliferation in mammalian mice following MI. ABSTRACT The mature mammalian heart has limited ability for self‐repair and regeneration.

Cold‐blooded commerce: Characterizing and predicting trade in Australian squamates

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, EarlyView.
Despite a national ban on native wildlife exports, Australian reptile species continue to appear in international trade. Using boosted regression trees, we found that large body sizes and taxonomic family, rather than color or patterning, best predicted trade presence. We identified 59 species likely to be targeted in the future, providing key insights

Proteomic Profiling of Plasma to Uncover Novel Intervention Targets and Prognostic Biomarkers for Chronic Liver Diseases

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims The burden of chronic liver disease (CLD) is increasing. This study aims to identify protein markers for CLD and its progression, and develop a protein‐based risk prediction model. Materials and Methods We used proteome‐wide Mendelian randomization (MR), Bayesian colocalization and summary‐data‐based MR with proteomic data from deCODE ...

RAB4A acts as a negative feedback regulator of extracellular vesicle secretion during TGF‐β signaling

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
TGF‐β signaling regulates extracellular vesicle (EV) release in cancer cells by modulating the expression and activity of genes associated with EV biogenesis. The TGF‐β‐induced upregulation of RAB4A expression facilitates fast endosomal recycling, a process that limits the fusion of multivesicular bodies with the plasma membrane and EV secretion. Hence,

Tandemly duplicated TaERF109 genes confer drought tolerance and post‐drought recovery in wheat

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Tandemly duplicated TaERF109 transcription factor genes in wheat modulate growth traits and enhance drought tolerance by regulating the TaMADS56 transcription facto gene, cytokinin biosynthesis‐related genes, and nicotianamine synthase genes, revealing the critical role of tandemly duplicated genes in the coordination of stress responses and ...

Change Within Stability: A Mixed‐Methods Study of Identity Development in Established Adulthood

open access: yesJournal of Personality, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Longitudinal studies examining identity development in adulthood are scarce, and little is known about the processes through which a stable identity is maintained or revised. This study addresses these gaps by examining (a) longitudinal patterns of identity status development from emerging through established adulthood and (b ...

Arabidopsis acclimation to daily environmental fluctuations converts a defense response regulator into a susceptibility factor toward Sclerotinia

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Summary Acclimation enables plants to adjust to immediate environmental fluctuations and is therefore key to the resilience of plant disease resistance in a time of climate change. Here, we report on the acclimation of Arabidopsis thaliana quantitative immune responses against the fungal pathogen Sclerotinia sclerotiorum to daily environmental ...
