Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Fear of Appreciation in East and Southeast Asia: The Role of the Chinese Renminbi [PDF]
The study brings into light the evidence of a fundamental role of the Chinese renminbi in shaping the exchange rate behaviour of other major Asian currencies. The results obtained suggest that there is an additional dimension to the ‘fear of appreciation’

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Regional Migration and House Price Appreciation [PDF]
Despite both empirical and anecdotal evidence suggesting the importance of common systematic factors determining price appreciation in residential real estate markets, the existing literature focuses almost exclusively on the impact of local variables ...

Factor structure and psychometric properties of the body appreciation scale among adults in Hong Kong [PDF]
Previous research has suggested that the factor structure of Body Appreciation Scale (BAS), a widely-used measure of positive body image, may not be cross-culturally equivalent.

Currency cycles and the international economy
The intrinsic factors which cause a key currency to move persistently in one direction are analysed, as well as those phenomena which develop as an endogenous consequence of the process of appreciation or depreciation changing the characteristics and ...

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.
