A Rational Approximation of the Two-Term Machin-like Formula for π

open access: yesAppliedMath
In this work, we consider the properties of the two-term Machin-like formula and develop an algorithm for computing digits of π by using its rational approximation. In this approximation, both terms are constructed by using a representation of 1/π in the

APPROXIMATION OF FREE-FORM CURVE – AIRFOIL SHAPE [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Engineering Science and Technology, 2013
Approximation of free-form shape is essential in numerous engineering applications, particularly in automotive and aircraft industries. Commercial CAD software for the approximation of free-form shape is based almost exclusively on parametric polynomial ...

Well-posedness of one-way wave equations and absorbing boundary conditions [PDF]

open access: yes
A one-way wave equation is a partial differential which, in some approximate sense, behaves like the wave equation in one direction but permits no propagation in the opposite one.

Decoupling Size and Electronic Effects in Doped SrTiO3 Photocatalysts Through Surface Area–Normalized CO2 Hydrogenation Rates

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Exploring the photocatalytic reverse water–gas shift (RWGS) reaction on doped SrTiO3 nanoparticle films, reveals that normalizing catalytic rates by the catalyst's specific surface area (SSA) disentangled surface area effects from the catalyst's intrinsic material properties.

Best approximation to 1 − x by special rational functions

open access: yesJournal of Approximation Theory, 1987
The author proves that the order of best approximations of \(1-x^ m\) on [0,1] by rational functions P(x)/Q(x), where P(x) has non-negative, non- decreasing coefficients and degree \(\leq m-1\) and Q(x) has non-negative, non-increasing coefficients and degree \(\leq n(Q(0)>0)\) is exactly \(m/(m+n+1)\).

Band Alignment in In‐Oxo Metal Porphyrin SURMOF Heterojunctions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Porphyrin core metalation in indium‑oxo SURMOFs enables systematic tuning of band edge positions without altering the crystal structure. First‑principles calculations reveal type‑I and type‑II heterostructures as well as multi‑junction energy cascades, establishing a modular strategy for exciton funneling and charge separation in optoelectronic ...

Expanding Chemical Space of Nucleic Acid Nanoparticles for Tunable Antiviral‐Like Immunomodulatory Responses and Potent Adjuvant Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a nucleic acid nanoparticle (NANP) platform designed to be rrecognized by the human innate immune system in a regulated manner. By changing chemical composition while maintaining constant architectural parameters, we identify key determinants of immunorecognition enabling the rational design of NANPs with tunable immune activation profiles

Approximation in the mean by rational functions

open access: yes, 2019
For $1\le t < \infty$, a compact subset $K\subset\mathbb C$, and a finite positive measure $ $ supported on $K$, $R^t(K, )$ denotes the closure in $L^t( )$ of rational functions with poles off $K$. Let $\text{abpe}(R^t(K, ))$ denote the set of analytic bounded point evaluations.
