Evanescent waves and deaf bands in sonic crystals

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2011
The properties of sonic crystals (SC) are theoretically investigated in this work by solving the inverse problem k(ω) using the extended plane wave expansion (EPWE).

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Electronic Structure of 1,3-dicarbomethoxy4,6-benzenedicarboxylic acid: Density Functional Approach

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2013
Structural optimization of 1,3-dicarbomethoxy4,6-benzenedicarboxylic acid single crystal was performed by minimizing the forces which act on the atoms. The optimized geometry was used to perform the theoretical study of electronic properties, electronic ...

Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.

The Stokes Phenomenon and Quantum Tunneling for de Sitter Radiation in Nonstationary Coordinates

open access: yes, 2010
We study quantum tunneling for the de Sitter radiation in the planar coordinates and global coordinates, which are nonstationary coordinates and describe the expanding geometry. Using the phase-integral approximation for the Hamilton-Jacobi action in the

Numerical Resolution of Differential Equations Using the Finite Difference Method in the Real and Complex Domain

open access: yesMathematics
The paper expands the finite difference method to the complex plane, and thus obtains an improvement in the resolution of differential equations with an increase in numerical precision and a generalization in the mathematical modeling of problems.

Measuring the Phase of an Optical Field from Two Intensity Measurements: Analysis of a Simple Theoretical Model

open access: yesInternational Journal of Optics, 2018
Under the scalar paraxial approximation, an optical wavefield is considered to be complex function dependent on position; i.e., at a given location in space the optical field is a complex value with an intensity and phase.

Integrated genomic and proteomic profiling reveals insights into chemoradiation resistance in cervical cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.

New Bernstein type inequalities for polynomials on ellipses [PDF]

open access: yes
New and sharp estimates are derived for the growth in the complex plane of polynomials known to have a curved majorant on a given ellipse. These so-called Bernstein type inequalities are closely connected with certain constrained Chebyshev approximation ...
