Fast and low‐power leading‐one detectors for energy‐efficient logarithmic computing

open access: yesIET Computers & Digital Techniques, 2021
The logarithmic number system (LNS) can be used to simplify the computation of arithmetic functions, such as multiplication. This article proposes three leading‐one detectors (LODs) to speed up the binary logarithm calculation in the LNS.

Parallel Magnetic Resonance Imaging as Approximation in a Reproducing Kernel Hilbert Space [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) data samples are collected in the spatial frequency domain (k-space), typically by time-consuming line-by-line scanning on a Cartesian grid.

Theory and applications of four-wave mixing in photorefractive media [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
The development of a theory of four-wave mixing in photo-refractive crystals is described. This theory is solved in the undepleted pumps approximation with linear absorption and without using the undepleted pumps approximation for negligible absorption ...

Learning‐based control for discrete‐time constrained nonzero‐sum games

open access: yesCAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology, 2021
A generalized policy‐iteration‐based solution to a class of discrete‐time multi‐player non‐zero‐sum games concerning the control constraints was proposed. Based on initial admissible control policies, the iterative value function of each player converges

Simplified exponential approximation for thermodynamics of a hard-core repulsive Yukawa fluid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Exponential approximation based on the first order mean spherical approximation (FMSA) is applied to the study of the structure and thermodynamics of hard-core repulsive Yukawa fluids.

Statistical field theory for simple fluids: the collective variables representation

open access: yes, 2005
An alternative representation of an exact statistical field theory for simple fluids, based on the method of collective variables, is presented. The results obtained are examined from the point of another version of theory that was developed recently by ...

Anisotropic Homogeneous Cosmologies in the Post-Newtonian Approximation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
In this paper we explore how far the post-Newtonian theory goes in overcoming the difficulties associated with anisotropic homogeneous cosmologies in the Newtonian approximation.

A First Approximation to Homotopy Theory [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1953
Publisher Summary The suspension map, originally introduced by Freudenthal for the study of the homotopy groups of spheres, has proved to be important in general homotopy questions and it has been found that within the suspension range, the situation is simpler than in the general case.

Goldstone Theorem in the Gaussian Functional Approximation to the Scalar $\phi^{4}$ Theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
We verify the Goldstone theorem in the Gaussian functional approximation to the $\phi^{4}$ theory with internal O(2) symmetry. We do so by reformulating the Gaussian approximation in terms of Schwinger-Dyson equations from which an explicit demonstration

Theory of antibound states in partially filled narrow band systems

open access: yes, 2007
We present a theory of the dynamical two-particle response function in the Hubbard model based on the time-dependent Gutzwiller approximation. The results are in excellent agreement with exact diagonalization on small clusters and give reliable results ...
