Density in Approximation Theory
Approximation theory is concerned with the ability to approximate functions by simpler and more easily calculated functions. The first question we ask in approximation theory concerns the {\it possibility of approximation}. Is the given family of functions from which we plan to approximate dense in the set of functions we wish to approximate?

An Approximate Theory for Value Sensitivity [PDF]
The software engineering community is on a quest for general and specific theories for the discipline. Increasingly, systems constructed for today’s hyper connected world are raising issues of security and privacy, both examples of value concerns. Hence there is a need to articulate a theory for value sensitivity that software engineers can draw upon ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

We present an exact field theoretical representation of an ionic solution made of charged hard spheres. The action of the field theory is obtained by performing a Hubbard-Stratonovich transform of the configurational Boltzmann factor.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Estimating Failure Probability with Neural Operator Hybrid Approach
Evaluating failure probability for complex engineering systems is a computationally intensive task. While the Monte Carlo method is easy to implement, it converges slowly and, hence, requires numerous repeated simulations of a complex system to generate ...
