A direct approach to the stable distributions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The explicit form for the characteristic function of a stable distribution on the line is derived analytically by solving the associated functional equation and applying theory of regular variation, without appeal to the general L\'evy-Khintchine ...

Importance of coding co-morbidities for APR-DRG assignment: Focus on cardiovascular and respiratory diseases

open access: yesHealth information management : journal of the Health Information Management Association of Australia, 2020
Background: The All Patient-Refined Diagnosis-Related Groups (APR-DRGs) system has adjusted the basic DRG structure by incorporating four severity of illness (SOI) levels, which are used for determining hospital payment.

Joint temporal and contemporaneous aggregation of random-coefficient AR(1) processes with infinite variance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We discuss joint temporal and contemporaneous aggregation of $N$ independent copies of random-coefficient AR(1) process driven by i.i.d. innovations in the domain of normal attraction of an $\alpha$-stable distribution, $0< \alpha \le 2$, as both $N$ and

A Short Overview on the Hydrogen Production Via Aqueous Phase Reforming (APR) of Cellulose, C6-C5 Sugars and Polyols

open access: yesCatalysts, 2019
The use of lignocellulosic biomasses for the production of renewable hydrogen is surely among the hot-topic research tasks. In this review, we report on the recent advances in the catalytic conversion of cellulose and its derived C6-C5 sugars (glucose ...

Regular Variation in a Fixed-Point Problem for Single- and Multiclass Branching Processes and Queues [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Tail asymptotics of the solution $R$ to a fixpoint problem of type $R =_{st} Q + \sum_1^N R_m$ is derived under heavy-tailed conditions allowing both dependence between $Q$ and $N$ and the tails to be of the same order of magnitude.

Implementing Health‐Related Quality of Life Assessment in Pediatric Oncology: A Feasibility Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background There is growing interest in embedding health‐related quality of life (HRQoL) assessment and patient‐reported outcome measures (PROMs) within clinical cancer care. This study evaluated the feasibility, acceptability, and usability of implementing an electronic PROM (ePROM) platform to measure HRQoL in children with cancer ...

Screening of bread wheat genotypes for identification of novel stripe rust resistance genes using molecular markers

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Plant Breeding
Stripe Rust, caused by Puccinia striiformis Westend f. sp. tritici , is an important fungal disease of wheat worldwide. In this study, 41 wheat genotypes from various institutes across India were screened for adult plant resistance (APR) in field trials,

On the phase transition curve in a directed exponential random graph model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We consider a family of directed exponential random graph models parametrized by edges and outward stars. Much of the important statistical content of such models is given by the normalization constant of the models, and in particular, an appropriately ...

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.
