Gastroprotective effect of apricot kernel oil in ethanol-induced gastric mucosal injury in rats [PDF]
We investigated the gastroprotective effect of apricot kernel oil on ethanol induced gastric ulcer in rats. Male Wistar albino rats were divided into control, ethanol and apricot kernel oil + ethanol groups.

Mass transfer modeling of apricot kernel oil extraction with supercritical carbon dioxide
Effects of process parameters on extraction of apricot (Prunus armeniaca L.) kernel oil with supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) were investigated. The parameters included particle size (mean particle diameter < 0.425-1.5 mm), solvent flow rate (1-5 g ...

Unconventional protein sources: apricot seed kernels
Zeitschrift für Ernährungswissenschaft, 1981Hamawy apricot seed kernels (sweet), Amar apricot seed kernels (bitter) and treated Amar apricot kernels (bitterness removed) were evaluated biochemically. All kernels were found to be high in fat (42.2--50.91%), protein (23.74--25.70%) and fiber (15.08--18.02%). Phosphorus, calcium, and iron were determined in all experimental samples.

Response surfaces of apricot kernel oil yield in supercritical carbon dioxide
Response surface methodology was used to determine the effects of solvent flow rate (2, 3 and 4 g/min), pressure (30, 37.5 and 45 MPa), temperature (40, 50 and 60 degrees C), and co-solvent concentration (0, 1.5 and 3 wt% ethanol) on oil yield of apricot

Acute Cyanide Toxicity Caused by Apricot Kernel Ingestion
Annals of Emergency Medicine, 1998A 41-year-old woman ingested apricot kernels purchased at a health food store and became weak and dyspneic within 20 minutes. The patient was comatose and hypothermic on presentation but responded promptly to antidotal therapy for cyanide poisoning. She was later treated with a continuous thiosulfate infusion for persistent metabolic acidosis.

INHERITANCE OF SWEET KERNEL TASTE IN APRICOT
Acta Horticulturae, 2010Most of the European apricot cultivars have a bitter kernel taste. Sweet kernel taste is among the desirable traits in apricots, which is mostly found in Asiatic origin cultivars. 'Orangered', a PPV resistant, self-incompatible, with floral abnormalities, but with high fruit quality, sweet kernelled apricot cultivar of American origin, has been used as

Chemical Composition of Bitter and Sweet Apricot Kernels
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 1995The chemical composition of bitter and sweet varieties of apricot (Prunus armeniaca) kernel was investigated. Oil, protein, soluble sugars, fiber (NDF and ADF), and ash contents in kernels were determined. Sweet apricot kernels were found to contain more oil (53 g/100 g) and less soluble sugars (7 g/100 g) than bitter kernels (43 and 14 g/100 g ...

Amygdalin metabolism and effect on reproduction of rats fed apricot kernels
Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health, 1981Diets containing 10% ground apricot kernels were fed to young and breeding male and female Sprague-Dawley rats. The kernels werE obtained from 35 specific apricot cultivars and divided into groups containing low amygdalin (less than 50 mg cyanide per 100 g), moderate amygdalin (100-200 mg cyanide per 100 g), or high amygdalin (more than 200 mg cyanide ...
