BvCOLD1: A novel aquaporin from sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.) involved in boron homeostasis and abiotic stress.

open access: yesPlant, Cell and Environment, 2018
Beta vulgaris (sugar beet) is one of the most important industrial crops. Screening of a cDNA library for sugar beet genes able to confer cold tolerance upon overexpression in yeast identified a novel aquaporin, which we named BvCOLD1.

The Application of Carbon Dots in Crops for Sustainable Agriculture

open access: yesChemistryEurope, EarlyView.
Carbon dots serve as versatile nanoagents across the crop life cycle. They promote plant growth and photosynthesis, enhance resilience to biotic and abiotic stresses, aid in postharvest preservation, and enable sensitive detection of contaminants.

Overexpression of an aquaporin gene PvPIP2;9 improved biomass yield, protein content, drought tolerance and water use efficiency in switchgrass (Panicum virgatum L.)

open access: yesGCB Bioenergy, 2020
Switchgrass (Panicum virgatum L.) is a prime candidate for non‐grain‐based bioenergy feedstock production. Improved drought tolerance and higher water use efficiency (WUE) are important for its successful field establishment and production, especially on

Aquaporin Protein-Protein Interactions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2017
Aquaporins are tetrameric membrane-bound channels that facilitate transport of water and other small solutes across cell membranes. In eukaryotes, they are frequently regulated by gating or trafficking, allowing for the cell to control membrane ...

Drugging aquaporins

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Biomembranes
Water is essential for all life because it is required for the proper functioning of the cells and tissues of all organisms. It crosses biological membranes down osmotic gradients through the pores of aquaporin membrane channels at rates of up to 3 billion molecules per second.

Non‐Syndromic Tumefactive Demyelinating Lesions in the Pediatric Population: Four Case Reports and Review of the Literature

open access: yesAnnals of the Child Neurology Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Tumefactive demyelinating lesions (TDLs) are large lesions (> 2 cm) seen in demyelinating syndromes such as multiple sclerosis, myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody‐associated disorder, and neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder. They rarely occur in children and most often have a monophasic course.

Proteomic and Bioinformatic Profiling of Transporters in Higher Plant Mitochondria

open access: yesBiomolecules, 2020
To function as a metabolic hub, plant mitochondria have to exchange a wide variety of metabolic intermediates as well as inorganic ions with the cytosol.

Screening polyoxometalates as aquaporin inhibitors for cancer therapeutics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Aquaporins (AQPs) are transmembrane protein channels that facilitate the diffusion of water and glycerol across cell membranes, crucial for water and energy homeostasis.

Dynamic expression of lamin B1 during adult neurogenesis in the vertebrate brain

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background In mammals, specific brain regions such as the dentate gyrus (DG) of the hippocampus and the subventricular zone (SVZ) of the lateral ventricles harbor adult neural stem/progenitor cells (ANSPCs) that give rise to new neurons and contribute to structural and functional brain plasticity.
